This is my new LEGO model after a little dark area in my life, I didn’t expect to build again, but when I saw that great building challenge in a Group called LUGNuts over Flickr I just couldn’t resist! The challenge is all about to build a car suggested to you by one of the group admins, so my assignment was to build a Morris Minor; when first Ralph Savelsberg assigned this car to me I said in my mind “no way I could build this car”, but I just thought about it then I decided to build a Hotrod version of this lovely car, the curvy shape was a pain to translate into LEGO, but here it is, ready to hit your PC screens ;-)
I would like to thank the great group LUGNuts for this amazing challenge; it was a lot of fun to build this model, and definitely build a classic car again.
Hope you like it, thanks for visiting my page.
About this creation

The Morris Minor was a British economy car that debuted at the Earls Court Motor Show, London, on 20 September 1948. Designed under the leadership of Alec Issigonis, over 1.3 million examples were manufactured from 1948-1971. Initially available as a 2-door saloon and tourer (convertible), the range was subsequently expanded to include a 4-door saloon in 1950 and wood-framed estate (the Traveller), panel van and pick-up truck variants in 1952.
The Minor was manufactured in three series, Series I, Series II (1952) and finally the 1000 series (1956). One author described the Minor as typifying “Englishness.”

Today the Morris Minor and 1000 are among the best served classic family-sized cars in the old vehicle movement and continue to gain popularity. The enduring affection for the "Moggie" (also a common British nickname for an undistinguished cat, or a Morgan) or "Morrie" (as it is often known in Australia and New Zealand) is reflected in the number of restored and improved Morris Minors currently running in Britain, Australasia and in India. In addition to more powerful engines, desirable improvements necessitated by the increase in traffic density since the Minor was withdrawn from volume production include the replacement of the original equipment drum brakes with discs. Other important upgrades include the 1,275 cc (77.8 cu in) version of the A-series engine, derided by Morris Marina enthusiasts as a key reason why many Marinas were scrapped. Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson once stated that the Morris Minor is Britain's Volkswagen Beetle.
The overall view:
Here're some shots to the overall view around the model...
The panoramic sunroof:

Here're some shots for the working sunroof...
And some shots with the sunroof off...
The interior:
Welcome to the whole red interior.
A top shot for the interior.
Here are some pics show the fold down front seats so the passengers could enter the rear seats...
The functional elements:

Everything's open as usual.
I just made the reverse opening hood coz it was easier for me ;p Although, the opening trunk wasn't a journey as well ;(
The Engine:

The convertible version:

A rear shot for the convertible version.
And finally a pic to show you the working steering from the steering wheel inside.

Hey Firas,
It's an amazing build, but sorry it's not suitable fr my contest, because it is not a Bubblecar, nor a Microcar.
Because of that, I have to remove it... Sorry, Jonathan |

I'm glad I finally found the time to comment this jewel. It's probably my favorite creation from you. You make incredible transformers, fantastic super cars but you challenged yourself for this LUGnuts round. Old cars with rounded shapes are hard to build but you did it beautifully and all the functions and improvements are great. It's something a bit between your London taxi and your bettle rod. |

Wow, that front end is bang on.
Was the coupé rear end treatment deliberate? What engine have you dropped in there, the ubiquitous Fiat 2.0 twin cam or something more exotic?
Get that steering wheel moved too!
100% excellent! May I suggest your next Brit car is either the Austin Maxi or 1970's Princess?!?!?! |

Maybe I'm a bit latewith a comment...but at least I do comment on a friend's creation: sparkling chrome, classy black outside, cosy red upholstery, outstanding building skills and functional bits and pieces - although it's not a supercar, it certainly is a "Firas". Glad to see you back again...and back building! Best wishes, Jens |

Frias, I'm glad to see you didn't quit building. This is another truly inspirational build. I didn't think I'd ever see a hot rod M-M. This is beautiful in all of its English glory. You did put the steering wheel on the wrong side, unless you built one that was sold outside of England! That is such a small mistake on such a great build though. I guess you could just reverse the pictures, right? LOL. Regards, Eric. |

Haha tell me about trying to translate curvy shapes into Lego... but if anybody can do it, it's you - ad you've done excellently !
When thinking of hot rods, though the shape is somewhat similar, I never think of the british cars... yet this one looks great all rodded up ; I love it :)

Congratz on the spectacular job with the curvy shape, and it's always nice to see working steering from you. On a side note, I think this is one of the coolest British-built cars! Well, this and the Reliant Scimitar... |
