Improved fit of weapons bay doors as a result of some minor modification.
About this creation
Rather than rewriting my MiG-31 page, I have instead included some photographs here showing the results of a few modifications to the weapons bay doors. I was not happy with the shut line with the engine cowling or the rather short door width. I have therefore widened the doors by one stud width necessitating the addition of a an 1 x 8 black tile and 1 x 8 grey plate for each door. Two strengthening 2 x 3 plates were also needed (optional if care is taken when opening and closing doors) and the inboard weapons pylon had to be moved one stud out. The results are a much improved shut line and a more accurate portrayal of this part of the plane.
View of the weapons bay with outer pannels folded back. This hinging is necessary as the missile fins fail to clear the edge of the cowling when the doors are opened and closed!

That's a very nice detail. Excellent work on the missiles too.
Thanks Kurt! Those doors were a pig to do as I had to leave enough room inside the bay to accommodate those missile fins, but the doors had to not extend further than the drone launcher. In the end, I left off the strengthening 3x2 plates as they were not needed. The doors should, of course, be longer to hold Aphid missiles rather than the silly mini-Anabs used for the film.
