Red Twin Engined Transport Airplane (with motorized propellers). Instructions!
This red Lego plane was originally styled to be a little like a Miles Aerovan, but it ended up being completely different. Its the first larger Lego plane I have wanted to upload to MOCpages.
About this creation
INSTRUCTIONS:

To build this model, you must first download and build the model from the LDD file posted below, then add the parts shown in the video. You must have at least have LDD 4.0 with Universe Mode unlocked. It is official and free - search for how to do it in Google!

Right, on with the show. The plane has a twin-finned tail set on a boom, and the two propellers are powered by one very old Lego motor by belts, in a similar way to the Wright Flier!

I originally was going to build this without motorized props - the idea only came to me when I was trying to add weight to the nose to make it sit on its undercarriage.

You can see the motor through the windscreen. The model is too small to be Minifig scale- it would have to have a seven or eight stud wide cockpit instead of a six stud wide one.

The (not very well focused) picture below shows the way in which the propellers are driven by the motor. The rubber bands are crossed to make the best use of space. The motor wire comes out underneath the windscreen. Although the rubber bands are clearly visible, they do not detract much from the model. The motor is geared up by the belts to make the props spin at a higher speed.

Thanks for looking at this model - please rate, comment and view my other creations. And, if you build variations on it, feel free to upload them to MOCpages - just please give me credit!

A very good MOC, nice and simple but it looks really good that way. I agree the ruber bands do not take away from the look of the MOC, actuly in my opinon, the add to the look. The whole think has a very clean look, reminds me of planes around in the late 30's, Great job!
