About this creation
A little desktop widget that I made on a whim. =) We all had to make one of these with wire and Styrofoam balls back in elementary school.

Originally I planned to do all eight planets, but sadly the pieces I have to work with limited me to the first five. They do, however, rotate independently.

The yellow piece is the Sun, obviously. The planets are as follows: Mercury (Tan), Venus (Green), Earth (Blue), Mars (Red), Jupiter (Orange). The colors aren't totally correct (Venus is not green), but short of painting those little orbs, this is as accurate as it gets. =P

"Look at me! I'm standing on the sun!"

Overhead view:

Far from perfect, but it was a lot of fun to make. =)

It's nice, easy, of course, but original. It's the idea.

Quoting A. A. (AKA Noname) Naah, don't do it- if you have extra money for LEGO, spend it on better and more useful System parts.
Agreed! Lol

Very interesting. You can build a non-moving moon with light grey stud connected to a little transparent stand, but then it would ruin that movement.

I thought about that, but like you said it would ruin the movement. I really should get some of those larger bionicle orbs so I can do it on a bigger scale. =)
