There were also some slight worries that gnome privateers might prey on shipping in the area, but as they have never been caught in the act, it has never been adequately proven that gnome privateers are a threat to shipping.
I really like how the castle reflected off the blue baseplate.
When I started this, I knew I had more than enough blue pieces to make that base. Now, having used up all my normal blue bricks and most of my blue plates as well, I’m glad I just barely did have all the pieces.
The basalt reef that the beacon tower is built on protects it from direct pirate attacks. A siege would still be possible, but difficult.
A small dock extends out of the rock for a boat to carry supplies between the tower and a supply ship.
An off-duty guard cooks a fish over the outdoor cooking fire. Much of the two-man garrison’s food is caught rather than brought.
The tower without the baseboard…
Yes, I even did an interior! Each floor of the castle comes off.
I have some shots of the furniture later on.
The second story is a supply room. The rods with the blue pins on them are supposed to be bolts/quarrels/arrows. How do you think they look for that?
There are also several boxes full of a mixture of nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and carbon dioxide. The more scientifically minded of you may recognize that mixture as air.
Though I had to remove them for the pictures of the three tower sections, each section has a ladder to the next level.
”The beacons are lit! The beacons are lit! Gondor calls for aid!”
”Aaak! Got to get my armor!”
A skeleton washes ashore, armed with a sword and with a dagger through the back. Will our hero see the danger? Will he make it?
Moving on as if that picture never happened, the requisite Alex-Eylar-ish shot.
Here’s the furniture, like I promised.
The chest contains a military-grade map and a sealed envelop containing the decoding formulae for coded messages. Why anyone would need to send coded messages to a forsaken rock in the middle of nowhere is anyone’s guess. Looks like the captain of the tower also put some... purple... knickknack... of his in the chest.
”Ever feel like you’re being watched?”
”Ash! Knock it off!”
”Aauugh!
Questions abound – who is this hooded man? How did he get here? How does he know that dragon?
Easy. But I’m not going to tell you unless you beg…
This tower was particularly inspired by JD Luse's fantastic towers and keeps.
And as always, thanks for your time!
