The Westwood Fire Station (formerly the Legoville Junction Fire Station) was built on July 18-20, 2007. It was one of seven buildings to survive Westwood City's September 2007 demolition. My ritual 'History' segment, as well as a few additional pictures, can be found below.

HISTORY:
Construction of the Westwood Central Fire Station began in 1945; it was completed two years later, on September 8, 1947. It replaced a decaying wooden structure that had been in use since the 1910's.
On May 22, 1968, the Westwood station itself caught on fire. While the blaze was quickly extinguished (and caused minimal damage), the ironic turn of events made headlines across the country.
The passage of Measure T in 1994 allocated funds for a major renovation of the building's interior. The building was closed for renovation for much of 1996; during this time, the fire department set up shop in a local warehouse. The building re-opened on January 21, 1997.
Westwood's fire department has not had to face any major fires since 2006. On a related note, the department has been injury free since March 16, 1979. This incredible streak is thought to be one of the longest of its kind in the state.
Today, the fire station serves as the primary headquarters of Westwood City's six-person fire department. All six members are full-time employees of the city.
