Here we have the Master of them all the P&H 4100 BOSS which stands for 4100B Oil Sands Special
About this creation
In this picture is the P&H4100BOSS with its partner equipment. This consists of a Caterpillar 797B 380ton /345 Metric tonnes dumptruck which the shovel is able to load in 3passes of a 120 tons /109 Metric tonnes. Alongside them is a caterpillar D10T bulldozer for working clean up around the shovel to maintain a level loading area to stop rock damage to the tires of the 797b it comes fitted with a Multishank ripper just in case the ground needs tearing up before levelling. i have also included a lego town service vehicle to give a sense of scale of normal road vehicles in comparison to these mining vehicles.
Below is a typical loading scence of the 4100BOSS loading a 380 Ton Cat 797B all functions on the upper structure are powered using 4 Battery boxes and 5 motors. these functions are 2 motors on the hoist 1 motor for the crowd function and 1 motor for the dipper release and 1 motor for the swing function which I have to upgrade too 2 motors as there is not enough tourqe even using worm gears so the upper housing keeps sticking when turning.
And here we have an operators eye view of the truck loading process this was a major pain to take I wish I could have gotten everything into focus.
Next up is a view of the rear of the machine housing where you can see the entry doors to the main body this is so as the engineers can get the large components in and out of the shovel if they need replacing. you can also see the counterweight which is detachable.
