[Two Steps From Hell - Ten Feet Tall]
((Note that at full scale, D-7 is only 5'4"))

D-7 was created by a Great Being named Zirrachus, along with eleven other brethren. He is one of the beings the Great Beings made before turning to biological materials, and was used during the construction of the Matoran Universe for many tasks. He aided the Great Beings in the creation of the first chronodermis, which led to the creation of protodermis.

In appearance he is toa-sized, although small in comparison with Great Beings. Lacking muscle, his strength lies entirely in mechanical protodermic joints, and lacking nervous tissue, his eyes are gigantic to compensate. D-7 can see in many different frequencies. His gold parts came only after the reformation of Spherus Magna.

D-7, along with the other Decipherers, went dormant during The Shattering, and awakened sometime later in various locations. D-7 was found by Drachen, and stored away within the Vault. After Spherus Magna reformed, Gringat visited the archive, and attempted to repair D-7. While he failed, the matoran Ferrum managed to get D-7 running.

As the Matoran Empire rose, D-7 became a trusted advisor to the Turaga-Kings. He was not affected by the Soulplague (where 97% of all First-generation matoran died with Mata Nui). He became of interest to, and then a friend of, Gringat, and also his children Tanggri and Nilmador.

On Spherus Magna, D-7 focuses a lot on many of the artefacts stored with him in the vaults - his own equipment was there, including the (damaged) bulk of something Zirrachus constructed named the Soulforge. It worked similarly to the machinery that created the Mask of Life, but not as powerful - yet it still allowed the creation of great wonders.

One such wonder is known as the Nui Crown, which is worn by the Turaga-King. Several weapons which were employed in the Vortixx, Skrall and Skakdi wars were made by him, as well as many vehicles and strange contraptions.

Enigmatic, D-7 revealed almost nothing of his history with his creators to the races arriving on the planet. He did, however, give the location of Tempesta Celestis and was instrumental in forming a colonisation mission to the Drakus System. He did not travel with the colonists, however.

D-7 is my oldest character. Until I was 14, he was also my self-MOC, but only in minifig form. His minifig form hasn't been taken apart in six years, and is physically my oldest MOC. As a minifig, his old story was that he was a servant of the martian embassador, and did battle against the Ba'karg, who were basically daleks with skulls. He made lots of stuff, generally with him as the pilot. In fact, I find it hard to recall a single System MOC I made in past years without being to do with D-7

My storylines have moved on since then, favouring Gringat instead of D-7 - but I decided I wanted him back, so here he is, in Bionicle Format! He is my secondary self-MOC, Gringat being first and Mezzinus third.

Inspiration for him points to Wallace and Gromit, for the main part, as well as the old Mars Mission sets, Star Wars and '70s Sci-Fi. He is not related in ANY WAY to WALL-E, as he was created at least four years before Wall-E was released.

He's sort of a steampunk thing, I guess, but in a more Faraday way.

I definitely like the creativity you put into D-7. It does have that Star Wars droid feel to it and the slender limbs work perfectly on this design.

Very lovely use of the beige pieces, and the arm techniques are splendid. I like how the wrist/hands and ankle/feet are more heavily armored than the rest of the body. Very Nice.

Absolutely marvellous! The head is great, as are the skinny limbs and the use of minifig whips on the arms make D-7 seem slightly more robotic. I was going to say that the gold armour looks odd, but the more I look at it the more it seems to fit, especially with the story stating he is rather ancient. Also, you've clearly made some large jumps in the past 4 years. :)

D-7.. Simple name, but it works really well. I'm liking the fact that he has almost no armor on his arms, but it still looks really good. Mind checking out the new version of my self MOC?http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/234789 Thanks! You rock!

Awesome job (as usual)! You still amaze me with your ability to make the Bionicle as well as the back story that goes with it. BTW, you are needed in the BRCII when you can get the chance. 20/5 -DV#

Very cool to see a character that's been with you for a big part of your life. I like the skinny, yet complicated design. I, sadly, can't pull off either of those things.
