Not the best place to sell insurance...
My third and hopefully final entry in Mr. Bones' Haunted Halloween Contest. My Competitors are Led Kat and Mr. Xenomurphy so needless to say that I need to rise to the occasion. I am really pleased with it no matter the result. Here it is gang!
About this creation

The ambitious salesman is trying to earn at least one more client before he turns in for the night. Being new to the area it has been hard to make is mark.

He arrives at his last stop and is a little surprised at the spectacle before him, an old rundown mansion.. He turns to go when he hears a shriek pierce the otherwise still darkness.

He gasped in fear and hurried on to his car. Might as well cross out this potential client...

If he would of stayed a couple minutes later he would move to a whole new city. There was following the receding noise of his car a savage growl and an unearthly scream of laughter.

Something was wrong in this house. Something very wrong...

The last person to live in this mansion was George T. McAlister in 1939. This house has remained dormant for the last 50 years. Since then moths and vandals have destroyed the once beautiful manor.

Once a grand and glorious estate, the McAlister mansion has fallen into disrepair when the Great Depression hit the world.

Before that it was used in the Underground Railroad in an attempt at smuggling black slaves to freedom.

Haunted house? I see nothing! The old McAlister mansion is just an empty, dusty old rathouse... or is it

These are the haunts, scornful freaks of nature that are justly rejected by society due to their abominable habits and cultish behaviors! Banished to these secluded groups as a punishment for their atrocious actions and evil thoughts.

The End

The Build

This has really gotten me hooked on ApocoMOCs™. To be sure you'll be seeing more from me on that. Anywho, I hope you like it. Just for a sidenote it was either an insurance salesman or girlscouts with cookies but due to title length I canned the girl-scouts.Also I chose to blend stories on this one. Some of my more avid followers may recollect the spooker spooked... McAlister mansion!

I hope you like it.

Well folks this is it. I purposely chose to backlight this one to shade the front. All haunted houses must be dark. I mean like how often do you see a pink house inhabited by witch, a vampire and a mime?

I chose to use the sand green for the peeled paint because regular green just seemed too bright in this kind of atmosphere. I recently was blessed with getting my hands on a handful of dark green for a very good deal.

I really like all the little details in this shot. This was a nominee for the main-pic but was ruled out because I thought the other one was better. I still do, but this is still a cool pic.

The vines I think really complete the front scene. Isn't it amazing that just one small detail like that can completely change the look of the entire scene? Ask Sean Kenney, spend 1 day on a single eye for a polar bear? Insane!

I like how the whips as a gateway are not symmetrical but are sort of lopsided. This also adds to the front of the scene, and it blends real smoothly with the rest of the fence. If your eagle eye has not already picked up on this, you may notice the bevel in the porch and railing. I tried to make this house look as run down as possible. This angle also illuminates the unevenness of the sidewalk as well.

I tried to make the yard look as over grown as possible so I added lots of tall grass in varying lengths. It blends right in with the sidewalk and the porch. You ma

I wanted to make this house be dark but with limited dark colors besides black(and green) I was sort of cornered with Dark Bley. I did like how it turned out however.

This is clichè haunted house section, the rising spire where all sorts of devious activities occur.

This picture was mainly so you could see the wall. Perhaps one of my favorite parts of this creation, it extends all the way to the ceiling and has a lot of peeling paint and termite holes and such.

I purposely made the keyboard bley as if they are covered in a thick layer of dust. You may also notice a key missing. The statue is also grey though once a glorious marble.

The chandelier fell through the floor and caused a huge hole, and snapping the table legs in the process. I love detail! Everything has a purpose! Oh yeah those things on the wall behind are holding the boards in place. They don't really have a purpose...

Yes the spider decal is legit LEGO product. This room is mainly built around the vanity and the hole in the floor. The hole was caused by the chandelier falling through the boards. I also put a rare black suction-cup into barrel to make it look empty.

This fire place is also a work of art. I tried to make it look as run down as possible while still exercising my creative arts on it. You be the judge. There is also a secret compartment in this used by the black slaves in the Underground Railroad. (a sneak peak of TTA)You may also notice the moose head is missing an antler.

Well fellas you should know that one of the requirements was to include Mr. Bones' and one of the moderators signature-minifigs in this. I won't say too much about that except I chose to put Master Shifu's rotting remains in the secret compartment! MUAHAHUAHHAUAHAHA!!!!! That's what you get for closing the wardrobe door behind you Lucy!

I was really tickled by this, I managed to get the EXACT distance on the brown boarder around the door on my very first try! I really like the wall to the right because of that, the peeling paint, the SNOTwork, and the termite eaten wall. Love it! This entire build gave me a sense of an apocalyptic scenario. Expect more from me on that...

I like this floor perhaps the best, due to the wall, fireplace, and the whole atmosphere.

This floor is the original floor. Nobody was brave enough to make it to the second story to see the "haunts".

Yes that is a mime in the group of monsters. I had a barrel of laughs with him. I hope you get a kick out of it too. A perspective shot. These are just so you can organize where the rooms are in the house. I know sometimes you are thinking "where is that happening in the model? I can't find it!" Well there you go, now no whining.

And finally what witches house is complete without a garage I ask you? If heli-pads are few and far between in your city just put one on your roof!

Just to remove any doubt, I added a picture of both Mr. Bones and Master Shifu in the same photo. They're in the creation you just gotta look for them.

Well there it is. I tried to throw in some comic relief because I didn't want to scare you too badly;) For some reason I am having a large sense of nostalgia about cannibalizing this one. Don't know why. I am getting more and more attached to my models. Must be getting soft in my old age... anyway I hope you enjoyed my Haunted House. Fortunately for the contest I was blessed with a lot of time this week due to my soccer season ending.

Best of luck to my fellow competitors and friends Leda Kat and Mr. Xenomurphy, not that you two need it or anything.

Sồlo deo Glồria!

Incredible amount of detail! The uneven sidewalk pocked with cracks and dead weeds, broken glass windows, crumbling interior walls, unmaintained interior and exterior … too many to admire. Like the rest of the entries, this MOC does not disappoint. Presentation: 3, Technique: 3, Build: 3, Design: 3, Spookiness: 2 = 14.

Quoting Mr. Xenomurphy My bad, it´s late here and I´m still building. I saw them right when you answered. Sorry. Anyway, a fantastic entry. You put so many details in it, it´s absolutely amazing. The broken pavement, the fence(!), the chandelier, the uneven floor, just perfect. The whole atmosphere is great. Hmm, mine is only an exterior. What the heck, we´ll see. Whatever happens, your entry is brilliant.

Quoting Mr. Xenomurphy Blake, I´ll write more about your fabulous creation later, but quick, you´ve forgotten something. Add Mister Bones and 1 of the judges to it, it´s in the rules. Add a photo with them in it. I´m sure it´ll count.
I do have photos of both of them. Master Shifu is in the fireplace and Mr. Bones is naturally a monster;) Thanks though I might think about adding a picture just to be on the safe side.

Wow! I love everything about this MOC. The peeling paint, the termite-bitten walls, and the overall run down look is excellent. I especially liked the view from the front with the fence, vines, gate, and the foreboding look of the house. The moose-head on the top of the fireplace was also a nice touch. I can go on all day about why I like this MOC! I hope you win the contest.
