A WWII anti-aircraft gun, with a Flak 8.8 cm anti-aircraft gun and a Flak Sw-34 Searchlight.
About this creation
The Flak 8.8 cm was a versatile artillery gun used by German forces throughout all of WWII. First fielded in Spain before the war, it was found to excel in both anti-tank and anti-aircraft roles. It was in the role of anti-aircraft that it gained infamy among allied bomber crews for it's power and range. At night, the gun was used in conjunction with searchlights, acoustic devices, and radar to target bomber enemy formations. Pictured here is a Flak Sw-34 Searchlight, as well as telescopic binoculars for daytime use. Enjoy!
It's worth noting that this was made for the Artillery Contest; the base is 20x24 studs.
An overall view
If anybody's interested, I can post the technique I used for the trench walls. Just Comment!
These binoculars weren't based on any particular type, just a random pair I found on the internet.
The searchlight in more detail. I might make another version later...

Pure awesome-sauce! I thought some of the others for the contest were good, but in my opinion you just won! I've never seen someone add a search light before! Over all very neat, were the shells actually yellow? =) Thanks! No, actually the shells were brass, and the warhead would very in color depending on the type(antitank, airburst). But yellow looked good, so I went with it! |

I think. Last time I checked, the guy in charge extended the deadline indefinitely. |

This is very well done, I would like to see this in a bigger diorama maybe with a couple more emplacements and a supply truck moving down a dirt road. Hmmm? Maybe you will treat us. ;)
I would have loved to do that, but the contest had 25x25 stud rules, so I was bit limited on what I could do. Besides, I ran out of brown bricks making this, so I don't see it in the near future. Sorry! |

One word: AMAZING! Great job with the entire thing! BTW I recently found out my Great Grandfather was not actually part of the Normandy invasions, he was on Normandy in September of 1944. I also found out that he was in The 25th Armored Engineers Battalion C Company. Can't find anything about C Company online though. |
