This time, playing with the pieces of the Atlantis Scorpion Guardian set.
About this creation
I recently bought this set, and reviewed it. Afterwards, I decided, there are tonnes of useful bits in here. Hell, that's why I bought it. And so I fiddled, played around, and MOCked about with these marvellous bits until I had only seven parts which were stored away accordingly. What you see here are the parts left behind.
And here's a song, for no particular reason, from Waterflame.
The first guy I shall call... hmm... I'll integrate these creatures into my story. Why not? So this is a Cinder-Flea. Classic Ta-Wahi Rahi. Sort of half snail, half pheasant in appearance. Very good in stews if you scrape the mucus out.
Hirrahurra are viciously-dispositioned birds originally created by Makuta Deciphus, before he became Nivorn, the Nightlord. The birds walk on their clawed wings, using their feet to manipulate items, and their bright red tails to attract mates. Their feathers have been modified into heavy knives which are good for digging, and their beaks can crush a matoran's arm.
Fiercely territorial, when angered they sound like a combination of a rusty saw on a nail and an irate coffee-machine.
Sound-Striders were made by Makuta Raximoras. They are sensitive to sound, being able to detect it with the entirety of their shells. They see via echolocation sometimes, which can compensate for their poor eyesight. They feed saprophagously, meaning they spit digestive enzymes onto food and then macerate it with their mandibles before injesting. The spikes on their side deliver a horrendous buning sting if touched, and the strange filaments at the end of their abdomens can be rubbed together to produce strange noises.
While looking ideal as mounts, the prescence of stingers makes this risky. Sound-Striders are also incredibly noisy, and are rendered almost blind when a matoran sits on them.
He is by far the largest of the three rahi, the first I made, which I am very happy with.
As you can tell, it's based primarily off species of the order Dermaptera, or earwigs, in layman's terms. I have recently gotten several books full of details of many sorts of organisms, and that may be reflected as I use said books as reference for many of my MOCs. Ngangana, for example, is based off a hatchetfish.
Remember that the three MOCs here were made only with parts from ONE SET. My parts were severely limited, which is part of the fun, sometimes.
In fact, I encourage you lot to try the same with one of your sets! Just MOCking around with sets like this is a great way to get the creative juices flowing, especially if you're in a bit of a building rut.
Interesting answer, I actually build quite a bit with system myself, but was reluctant to post it on my MOCpages account, because I've always posted Bionicle only. Would you suggest that I post system MOCs on my MOCpage? I know, odd question, but I'm extremely fickle in small matters like these, and wanted advice from a friend.

Very nice MOCs, and I have a question for you Gringat. Due you MOC with system Lego often? And if you do/did would you post it on your MOCpages account, and perhaps Youtube?
Not too sure about YouTube (I really don't see the point of MOC videos if I have MOCpages, although normal stopmotion videos will definitely have any number of MOCs in), but on MOCpages I ALREADY post all of my MOCs. I use system parts constantly, if you look at my MOCs. I mix system with everything now - useful habit, perhaps. All-System MOCs are a rarity from me, just as All-Technic MOCs are.

I love all 3 of these, and I saw your reveiw on youtube and figured you would have gutted all the good parts from it and used it bionicle mocs! (like I do sometimes) But nontheless awesome creations! :D
