This firehouse was based on that of Engine 33, Ladder 9 on Great Jones Street in the East Village of Manhattan.
This is the first firehouse I made based on FDNY firehouses. I made it in June of 2001. My building skills have come a long way since then and I am considering revisiting this at some point. I don't like the large arch that much and it doesn't really represent the smooth arch that is in the real thing.
Hi, I love the firehouse. This firehouse has special meaning to me. My brother was the Lt. of Engine 33 on 9/11. As you know none of the men of E33 returned to the firehouse that day except the driver. Every year I have returned to visit the firehouse on 9/11, I get great comfort from visiting. The firefighters of that house will always be close to my heart. Thank you for making this lego of Engine 33, Ladder 9.
Wow, excellent work once again!!!! I heard that in the 80's, this firehouse had either one or two fire poles that stretched 80 feet through the building! What a heck of a time these guys must of had getting all hands jobs in the middle of the night, then going down, half asleep!!! Keep up the excellent work!!!!
