If you need to be introduced to this creation, then you haven't been breathing air for very long.
About this creation
We all know it had to be done, and so here it is in all its excessive glory (and yes - it was a stupid amount of money, so please don't bother asking exactly "how much?").
There are a total of 301 as it was King Leonidas leading his 300 troops into battle.
I am working on some Persians as well, so let the battle begin. And always remember: "This is Sparta!"

out of curiosity what sets are the helmet, shield, and spear in? I'm up to date on all sets lego and i have never seen any of them. in a different country perhaps??
I am thinking you had better retract your statement about being "up to date on all sets Lego" seeing as you haven't heard of these ones. They are world wide (I live in North America, and purchased these from Europe), they are available everywhere. Heard of the collectible minifigs before? http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=col018b

like always i love your work. Frank Miller might be the best comic book artist that ever lived. 300 was one of my favorite comics and movies. This is amazing dude as with all of your work :). if i may make one suggestion though, the helmet, and the shield are already custom so in my opinion the spear is just too much. i understand that it was a packaged deal, but in order to bring some "lego" back into it, i would suggest swapping the spear for some good ol' lego ones. but great job!

wow hoho that is alot of figs. are there exactly 300? and how did you get so many?
A bit of advice, before you ask such a question as how many, may I suggest reading the text. It does state exactly how many there are. As for the how - I went to school, and worked hard so I could have a job that allows me to purchase such things. That being said, they were all purchased from a single vendor on BrickLink, the vendor was from Germany. |

uhh pretty cool you have so much figs, but you could atleast add some variation, not all spartans looked the same with the same face + armor :)

That's quite the army! I would never have the money needed to buy so many at one time. But yes, I think if you added some variation in their faces, it would look even better.
I did address that question/suggestion; however, it has been buried many lines down now. I will be doing that for the upcoming diorama; however, in this case I was in a rush to get them plated and photographed so I could show-off/brag about actually having 300 of them ;-)
Thanks for all the comment guys, I will endeavour to not disappoint with the diorama/battle scene. |

Spoken like a person who has never seen my other armies. The replicating the figs might have been easy; however, the shot with the wooden floor included would certainly not have been easy.

Quoting The Lego Man ...
Awe-inspiring. When i first saw you put this up, i was all "oh no he diidn't'! you can add the snaps for the full version if you want to :D and also, how many Persians will there be?
I am not too sure as of yet, but probably about the same. Was thinking of just doing the Immortals. Time will tell though. I have had some offers of collaborative on this one for BW 2011.

::picks jaw up off the floor:: Impressive. Most impressive. Can't wait to see the battle! While they wait, why not have them fight with the Evil Horde From Understairia? Unless, of course, Dratsab and his army are no more? Good build all the same!
That orc army is close to about 10,000 figs now. Now that would be a battle and a half.
Quoting ODST .
WOW. You should have these guys fight your evil horde.
That would be cool.
Quoting Ludgonious .
Holy... I missed this one. I just watched a video on brothers-brick about the scarcity of the spartan. Haha, apparently you had no problem.
I had to make sure I had the 300. It took more than a few emails to my sources, then somebody on BrickLink up and posted 400 of them. After some wheeling and dealing - here they are. Lee. |

I've been trying to get one of those forever, at least now i know where they all went. Though good job nonetheless, no one but you would attempt to do that. |

If I fired arrows at them... how long would it take you to put all of their little shields up? |

LMFAO, yeah we knew someone was going to do it.....and really the only one in position to do so is you. Congrats on the figs! Does your wife have new flooring yet?! :P
Actually - yes, but the flooring did come first.
Quoting Graham (Green Beret)
im sorry, but this is not technically a MOC, its just a bunch of minifigures that you didn't make up. sorry
We will have to disagree then.
Quoting Matthew Novosad
Excellent collection. Wish I had that many *snif*, taking ancient Greek and all... Might I add that the real ancient Greeks had a more horizontal rectangle for their formation, but do as you please.
After I went to set the baseplates for the pictures, I did try that, but hadn't placed the figs in a way that would make it possible.
Quoting Tyson Riczu
Holy moly.. I knew this was coming.. and now I realize why I couldn't find any spartans in the Southern Alberta area.....
LOL. Actually, the figs came from one BrickLink vendor, and from Germany at that.
Quoting -=Rori=- P
O_O Wow. Maybe when your tired out fingers have had a rest, you could try putting them in some different formations? Say the phalanx, or have them do the hoplite run? =)
They will be part of an upcoming diorama. Hopefully ready in time for Brickworld 2011. |

Insane this is, indeed! If you make the the 1000 Persians you´re completely nuts! But, it is still impressive to see actually 300 warriors. ~Cheers |

THIS IS SPARTA! I knew that somebody would do this. This is insane. Now you need to buy 1,000 persian warriors and somehow fit both armies in a diorama. |
