About this creation
This is an entry in the 2010 MOC Olympics.
My opponent, and probable vanquisher, is the incomparable Stuart Delahay - see his awesome creations here.
In another time and place....

At a secret location in the Docklands...

"Agent Phipson! When Z branch said they were sending someone, I had no idea it would be a top-ranker."
"Good to see you, too, Doc. Well, our glorious leader is taking a personal interest in this project."

"I'm glad to hear it. Well, here she is - Project Cormorant. The world's first flying submarine!"

"It's an ambitious project, Doc, but of great strategic value if it works. Will it?"
"Well, we've completed separate airborne and underwater trials successfully. My technicians are just completing final adjustments before the big test - to take off, go from airborne to underwater 'flight' and back again. But I'm confident. The Merlin engines on the wings provide power in the air..."

"...after surface penetration, our revolutionary turboscrew takes over."
"I like the sound of that, Doc."

"Let me introduce you to our test pilot, Ace Wasabi. He's the only man ever to top the class at both combat pilot training and submarine academy. Do you think you can handle this one, Ace?"
"Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!"
"Yes, as it happens he's a champion seafood chef as well. What a guy."

"Hey! What's that noise??"
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

RRRRRR!
"What is the meaning of this untimely intrusion?"
"This can only be the work of one person, Doc...."

"...evil mechanical genius Sunset Beech!"
"That's right, Phipson. Our paths cross again, but this time I have the advantage! I've come to claim what's rightfully mine."

"Sunset, you're wanted by the security services of 27 different nations. I'm going to give you the chance to come quietly."
"Hah! Do you fools think I came alone? You will all perish before the might of my... Diesel Punks!"

"Meltdown, the living furnace!"

"Tanktop - none shall question his fashion sense and live!"

"and Slayride, the merrily jingling assassin!"

"Attack, my creations! Let them taste my wrath!"
(Phipson) "If I can just grab that wrench..."

"Sorry Tanktop, but blue hair is always a fashion disaster. Especially when it can be pulled over your eyes."
"MY VISION IS IMPAIRED! I CANNOT SEE!"

"I think it's high time the 'Living Furnace' cooled off..."

"...that should dampen his enthusiasm!"

"One more surprise to finish the job - "

"Assault walker mode!"

"The runners are about to come off for you, Slayride."
[The following scene of mechanical dismemberment has been censored as unsuitable for those of a nervous disposition, vacuum cleaner lovers, and gerbils].
RATATATATAT! Shhhrrrk....
crungPRRRT eeeeeee budabudabudabuda...
fwomp.

(Technician) "Dude, you like, saved my life."
"All in a day's work, citizen!"
"And thanks to you, Agent Phipson, Project Cormorant is safe. But hang on... where's Sunset Beech? And Ace?"

Where indeed?

"Curse that meddling Agent Phipson for destroying my beautiful creations, and his awful puns! But I got what I really wanted. You should never have dumped me at high school, Ace!"
"You're crazy, Sunset! Do you think kidnapping me will make me fall in love with you?"
"Of course not. I just want a decent chef. My evil minions haven't got a clue about haute cuisine. Taking over the world is hungry work, you know."
Breaking the 4th wall:
Well, it's been a blast. Hope you enjoyed my effort at playing my opponent at his own game! Inspiration from all sorts of places for this one: the US military (who really were working on a flying submarine in the 1930s), Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, Transformers, Red Dwarf, Doctor Who to name but a few.
It was handy that Chris was on holiday this week so that I could use him without looking like I was sucking up to a judge!
P.S. If I am knocked out, am I allowed to enter this in the 'Phip-Phip Hooray!' sidegame? ;-)

You're a gent Stu, thanks for the toughest challenge yet. I thought I was goners at 2-0 down, proper squeaky-bum time! Now of course, everyone will expect a strong showing from you whenever you post, but I know you won't disappoint. Onwards, for Queen, England and St. George! |

Good entry... you're definitely making this a hard contest to call. Both of you Stuarts are talented MOCers, and I can't wait to see how this one comes out. |

Such a good comedy, especially the end. I also love the transforming car. |

As much as I love this, my vote went to Delahay. Your builds are awesome (that transforming car is something else), but he just barely edged you out on this one. Had your photos been a bit sharper, maybe you'd have won me over. Great effort and well-played! |

This was a tough call for me, but the other Stu got my vote. Your transformer was sweet, but I enjoyed his overall presentation and design just a bit more. You still lead 2-1, good luck with Dennis and Yuri. |

Congrats, Lucas, you've got my vote, too! Delahay's entry was outstanding, but the dialog and originality of design here gives you the edge in my book. Fantastic work! |

Great stuff mate, the transforming car is class! Love the effect of the mole drilling up through that dock too. As we've said before, there WILL be a Brit called Stu in the final four - as it stands I reckon it'll be you but we'll see what our judges have to say, good luck! |

Your pictures could use some work on quality, but the builds do not. Your transformers win the day, and my vote. Lee. |

HAHAHAHAHA! The Red Dwarf references had me ROLLING! If I were a judge, all that kissing up (agent Phipson... nice) and then giving me a frakin transformer would have been hard to ignore. I also liked the "smog" effect on the shots of the punks. Nice presentation! Great work man and good luck! ~ Chris. |
