MOCIA 2, pt 13
Yes, it's late, no, I'm not going to be handing out any more consolation prizes. You've got enough rubbish in your pockets as it is.
About this creation

This next room is an intersection. There's three doors, one of which you've already entered. There's also some very large bullet holes in the wall, and a smashed up set of battlearmour lying on the floor.

The battlearmour is, as the name suggests, a reinforced envirosuit of military origin, intended for combat. This particular one isn't going to be seeing much combat in the near future without the aid of a recovery crew. Taking an AT rocket to the chest tends to do that.
Before you get any ideas, the gun is broken. The gas tube is disconnected from the barrel, which is also disconnected from the receiver, and it's the wrong sort of gun for a human to use without assistance anyway.

So, will you:
A: root through the mortal remains of the dearly departed whatsisname lying on the floor for new and interesting stuff?
B: go through the door to the north?
C: go through the door to the east?
D: go through the suit pilot's pockets after carefully checking for boobytraps?
E: rig the suit's power supply to explode if bumped?
F: search the walls for hidden panels?
G: examine the suit's rocket pod?

You have until the 23rd.

Quoting Nathaniel D.
And here I was thinking people didn't think things over enough. I do want to point something out, though: artificial gravity. What happens if a guy's just floating around in an airlock and someone flicks the gravity on? Instant head wound, no visible assailant. Or... one could simply have a moment of clumsiness and again, instant head wound, no assailant. Or one could be pushed. It's not like hull plates show footprints very well. Now, I'm going to have to decide what exactly happened and in what order. And here I was, just making it up as I went along.

Let's see; something took down an heavily armed and armored exoskeleton with what is apparently one shot, judging from the lack of anything else dead in the room and the doors being closed, and the only bullet holes being in one wall. The blood (unless it's some strange sort of coolant) is bright red, so it's oxygenated, and probably fresh. In the original room, we first encountered Mr. Doe in a similar position as the guy in the suit, on his back, with blood having come or coming from somewhere on the back of his head or neck. Seeing as he's still doing fine and never had a complaint about it, there's a possibility the pilot is still alive. That should take off E has a good option, and suggests we make sure he's really dead, meaning B, C, F, and (mostly) G are out. Anyways, it seems likely that whatever did this to the guy in the suit did the same to John. We can also pretty much rule out John having himself done it, as he has no weapon. The only thing is: how did he get from the intersection room to the airlock? There isn't blood dripped anywhere but where we found him (nor is there blood on his suit or hands), so best guess seems to be that he actually received his wound in that very room, suddenly, fell down, and became unconscious. Again, the only blood is where he fell, and there weren't any objects around him that showed signs of having hit him, so that object must not be in the room. There haven't been any ship logs about an attack, so either everyone's really busy (which could imply fighting off whatever attacked Mr. Doe and the suited guy), or everyone forgot (there are at least 7 crew members, and probably a lot more considering we have a 'chief pilot' and heads of xenobiology and security (though not an enormous amount, as a crewman is referred to by last name only) so they'd have to all become like John to have this happen). A head wound is going to a bleed a lot no matter what, but seeing as John's has appeared to stop, but the blood in both cases appears to be fresh, in a normal case it's had to have been at least 15 minutes. This is in space, however, so their advanced technology could have stopped the bleeding very quickly. As a side note, you obviously still need to eat, as you found food earlier, but you haven't felt hungry... As to this attacker. Going by mere suggestion, I'd take a stab at it being whatever it is in the cage in the xenobiology department. Something alien, of course, but a smart one: intelligent enough to take down a (supposedly) unarmed human, and either knock a hardsuit out of commission, or pilot said hardsuit and fire its weapon. As to the latter, it's doubtful that an alien would have the physiology or correct mental structure to pilot the suit. However, the alien must have taken out the suit with a weapon separate from itself, as if it could breath fire or something like that to create the blackened front of the suit, it could have merely incinerated crewman Dawes instead of simply disabling him, and fire wouldn't cause the suited man to bleed like that. To sum it up, main points: A. Something with at least the intelligence of a smart monkey took out a hardsuit and probably you, and rendered a crew member bedridden with its bare hands (or tentacles or whatever), and you've got a sword and a rope to defend yourself with. B. This all probably happened at least 15 minutes ago and not more than 8 hours. C. The suit pilot might not be dead. D. Whatever vessel you're in appears have a crew of (making an educated guess) at least 20. And to top it off, THE point: I pick D.

Just to point this out: the holes in the wall did indeed come from the suit's weapon. However, that doesn't mean anything; it could easily have been shot from behind, and the gun went off when it hit the ground. After all, the front of the torso is blackened and damaged, but that could as easily be from a shaped charge going right through as from an explosive impacting from the front. In other words, where the suit's lying and where the bullet holes are has nothing to do with where it was attacked from.

A. The suit could have a better life support system, extra power for Bob's (Or was it Fred?) own suit, grenades is a possibility, communications pack, or even video footage of what-ever the thing that got loose and attacked the person. 4/5!

After some deliberation, I have decided that A is probably best. Why not loot the corpse? If Ezio in Assassin's Creed II can do it, it can't be all bad, right? Plus, the armor might be housing an alien hatchling of some sort that may or may not be hungry for some unknown spaceman...

The suit's position makes it seem that it was shot back from the east door, but the bullet holes make it seem that it was shot at from the south, however, those hole might have come from his own gun going off. So, anyway, I vote for B, the north door.

Quoting Awesome-o-saurus The Not-So-Great C, East. That's where mystery always is.
But does the mystery want to kill you in a variety of painful and inventive ways? Or maybe there is no mystery, and it's like those things in movies where people put their arm in a dark hole, suspenseful music plays, and nothing happens.
