About this creation
“So Chris, what did you do this weekend?”
I was part of Octobrickfest 2010 at the Glen Ellyn Public Library in Glen Ellyn, Il.!
Hosted by Dave and John Xandegar of “Brixwerks” fame, it was a small event that allowed a few of us in the Chicago area to come together and share Lego with the community. I was only able to attend this morning (Saturday, Oct. 16th) but when you go for a dry spell of a year between Brickworlds, a quicky is sometimes good enough!
From left to right: Dave Xandegar, Jeff Viens, Dan Church, me, and in front, John X. Dave Kaleta was also one of the exibiters but had left by the time I got there. Something about having to finish “that (bleeping) MocOlympics entry” or something… hehehe Sorry I missed ya Dave. Let’s plan on Black Friday again this year shall we?

Dave Xandegar at his Brixwerx table. Even though Dave and John aren’t part of MOCpages anymore, they’re still part of our family. When they asked me to be a part of this show, I couldn’t say no. Thanks for inviting me guys!

Here’s the room with a couple of the other tables. The guy next to the table there is Dan Church and behind the table, minding the mocs, is my daughter Lily.

See, see! The Batman was here! Kaleta’s MocOlympics entry along with some of the builds from his amazing collection of Batstuff!

Jeff Viens! Just who is Jeff Viens you ask? Well, aside from doing these awesome town layouts, he also holds 2 World Records with his Lego Trebuchets (see the World Record entry at www.recordholders.org/en/list/lego.html ...you can also see the World's Largest Trebuchet in action here -http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=677WWRUeH6U ).

Some fun with Jeff’s trains.

A Lego bowling alley? Nice!

My daughter wanted her picture taken with the skull… She asked me after “Daddy, can you build me a Lego skeleton?” Who can say “no” to that face?

Fourth Wall Commentary: I really wish I could have spent more time here today unfortunately life gets in the way and we had to leave long before the event ended. Thanks to Dave and John for putting this event on and here’s to hoping we catch up with ya again soon (sometime before BrickWorld would be nice).
Till next time true believers!
~Chris.

I remember what I did that weekend: volunteered at a campain office for my government class! (it isn't as fun as it sounds) looks like you had a good time there, and that's swell. |

This on your homepage: "...get a FREE T-SHRIT..." I'm guessing that was misspelling, but perhaps there is a chance a pun is residing in that sentence somewhere... ~Waff |

Woah! I look kinda creepy in that first picture. Your camera must have done some funky things... It was a pleasure to finally meet you after exchanging comments and such here on MOCpages. Sorry you couldn't attend the second day, but your creation certainly makes up for you absence with the size of it! |
