My entry for the Dem Bones Haunted Halloween Contest in the Spooky Halloween Vignette category.
About this creation
What is this dull scene? How is it creepy? Will we ever know? Will we survive our attempt to find out? Is the write-up too clichéd?

It seems so dull at first... how is it creepy? The door is unusual, and the lawn poorly-kept, but that alone does not make a scene creepy. Does something darker hide below?

Nothing, nothing but a sinister overhang which may or may not scare away points... but it seems to have been kept in check. Turn it again...

Ah, adventurers fanchildren... perhaps frightenly out-of-touch, but only if you're scarily young and tasteless. The have no fangs, nor claws; they carry nothing but bags for candy. Where is this creepy?

We look further, but there is nothing creepy here either. The judges among us are getting eerily close to disqualifying this... but wait! Turn it... this... way...

Suddenly, everything merges into a creepy image... and now you are doomed... doomed to rate and comment.
Builder's notes:
Sorry, but I have a hard time making a vignette without any humor anywhere. I just couldn't help myself with the cheesy, over-the-top write-up.
In case you're not wearing your glasses, the final picture is a skull illusion, an image where a group of seemingly unrelated objects lines up to form an image of a skull. I chose the somewhat unusual color of brown for my skull... most are white. The reason I chose this particular form of creepiness is obvious, if you consider the man in charge of the contest.
Oh! I made it onto the homepage! Thanks everyone!
Admittedly, you aren't "doomed" to rate and comment, but I would indeed be quite grateful if you did...

It took me a minute to figure the illusion out, but when I got it, I was pleased, nice work, this reminded me of a Hobbit hole :) |

Don't worry, humor scares the heck out of many. Cute illusion.
Thanks, I think. Maybe. Probably. |

Aha a skull. Very interesting. It might've been better if the skull was white, but of course the door pieces do not come in white. Clever work. |

I didn't see it until you told us like Parrinton Levens, but it's still great. |

I didn't see the skull first, maybe you should say directly that the brown doors and the minifigs are creating it. I liked the descriptions. The title fits very well. |

Wow, really smart vig! One of the most creative entries of the contest I've seen so far... I mean, it's not just a monster or something predictable like that... The skull was a little hard to see at a first look, but it's really ingenious |

4,4,3= 11 points. Sure, the build was a bit lacking but that skull idea was great! |

OK Mr. W.....I totally respect you for going out on a limb and trying something completely different. The skull trick at the end was pretty good. BUT, with that said this build is lacking substance. There is nothing spooky about it at all. Remember, your build should speak louder than your write up. Don't depend so heavily on the backstory my man!! Originality 4, build is 3, and presentation is a 3 for a total of 10. |

I waited for the Oh- and Ah-effect till the last pic. I must confess I got it after reading your text. Brilliant. Like the last scene in "What lies beneath". |
