Take a sneak peak at some of the old dingy rare & discontinued Lego artifacts in my and my brother's collection. All these suckers were acquired with the original sets while they were still on the market. Ah, the smell of old Lego...
About this creation

Brick 1x2 red with LEGO logo, open "O" pattern, ca. 1980

Brick 1x4 with chrome town car grille, ca. 1981. Funny, I always thought there was a boombox on the front of my Lego town cars.

2x2 slope with black grille pattern, 1991

Brick 1x2 with Santa face pattern, 1989

Spaceman minifig yellow from XT Starship, 1987. Still as lucid and chipper as he was in his youth.

Old helmet design (left) next to modern design (right) adopted circa 1990

Light & Sound set from XT Starship, 1987. Screw compact flourescent bulbs and their pitiful 7-year life expectancy! If you want your lamps to last 23 years I suggest you buy these. Additionally, the siren piece still works perfectly, producing the 2 sounds described by the Lego company as "BIB BIB BIB" and "WII WII WII" on the original box. Lego didn't even get a dime from Nintendo for this considerate promotional plug.

Octan pattern pieces from original Gas Stop Shop set, 1995

Wedge with number three pattern from Water Jet, 1996

Tile with red danger stripe pattern, circa 1990

Yellow arrow pattern on white, circa early 1990's

Slope with number one pattern, circa 1990

Bricks with black grille pattern from XT Starship, 1987

2x2 tile with blue arrow pattern from Dig N' Dump, 1996

Slope with Exploriens logo pattern from Alien Fossilizer, 1996

Life-saver sticker, circa 1998

4v4 dish with umbrella pattern from Pizza To Go, 1994

2x2 tile with Coast Guard pattern from Baja Buggy, 1996

Shark pattern space nose and minifig from Aquashark Dart, 1995

2x2 tile with yellow number 4 and stripes pattern, undocumented

Space Police I and II patterns from 1989 Galactic Peace Keeper and 1992 Solar Snooper

Minifig compass from Renegade Runner, 1993

Minifig compass from Crystal Explorer Sub, 1995
Additional photos pending as I dig more fossils up from the depths of the collection. Catalog information retrieved from original instruction manuals as well as from Peeron.com, a Lego set inventory site.

Is the "LEGO" imprinted brick very rare? Because I have one too. I also have a lot of vintage minifigs, if you want to see them.

Hahaha! Though I gave away most of my old LEGO collectio when I was 14-15, I still have some of those "relics" (mostly through my girlfriend's brother who gave all his LEGO to me last year). Nice stuff. |
