Eastern Block spacecraft: a small transport, very heavily armored, with two dual cannon arrays.
About this creation
November 2003
It's been nearly a month since my last creation debuted, and it's up to you to determine whether the wait's been worth it.
This is my newest spacecraft: a very small, very heavily armored transport shuttle designed and used by Eastern Block forces.
Here are some galleries of other Eastern Block ships and vehicles that I used for inspiration:
Chris Giddens' ZOG
Leonard Hoffman's Kalashnikov, and everything else on his MOCpage.
Like my last ship, the PCS-themed LL-18 VIC, this model is based on the creations of other builders, and the design ideals created by them. I took a little more liberty with this ship than I did the VIC, because I had a shape I really wanted to try to build. I decided to make an attempt to adapt it to EB standards. What you see here is the result of nearly a month of off-and-on work and at least one major design change.
The purpose of this craft is to ferry small amounts of cargo or transport a limited number of passengers (I'd say 4, not counting the pilot who sufficient room in the cockpit.)
The transport boasts 4 powerful engines and rear exhaust vents, as well as nearly impregnable armor plating. In the rare situation where the craft cannot outrun an opponent or survive a bombardment, it can answer back with two twin arrays of blaster cannons.
Parts of the transport are discolored from the rest of the "paint job", because I found that I didn't have all the pieces I needed, and had to substitute colors. I think it turned out good though, it looks like the ship has taken some hits.
This ship was fun to build, but took me a while to complete. The angled rear end posed quite a few problems at first, but eventually I was able to get it all sealed up and airtight. The hatch lock was a quick addition, but seems to work quite well. Also of note are the thrusters at the front, similar to the ones on the front of the VIC. The dark gray pistol is one of my all-time favorite greeblies, and provided me with the angles and movement I needed to make the thrusters look right.
I always like to hear what you think, good or bad, so feel free to comment or criticize!

Jeepers Mr. Wood, you sure have talent. It is amazing what you can build with such little toys. All the boys will be talking about this on campus. Golly what a sight! |
