MocOlympics R4-G2 Tyler Halliwell vs. Parrington Levens
Fro Round 4 of the MocOlympics, I had to make a "Rube Goldberg" Machine. Here goes!
About this creation
For Round 4 of the MocOlympics, my category is "Rube Goldberg." We were either supposed to make a working one or a fake one as the focal point of a story, as my lively opponent chose to do.
Rube Goldberg was a cartoonist who is known today for his drawings of fantastical machines that used an outrageous number of steps to complete a simple task. There are now Rube Goldberg competitions where teams are given a task and must complete it using a set number of steps. there is actually an annual one at the college 10 minutes away from me, Purdue. Anyway, my machine does the simple task of removing a brick with a brick separator.

Here are two videos of my machine. The first is from the front, the second from the top. Enjoy.

And now, lengthy commentary of what goes on in each step.

This first picture is actually of the end result. the brick separator is pushed down by a falling block and separates the orange plate from the base.

Here we see the soccerball in its holding area. A fun fact is that this soccerball was given to me by Steve Hassenplug, known for his Brickworld sensation "Monster Chess," when he lived in my neighborhood. Are you jealous?

This lever here controls the descent of the ball.

Here is the lever pulled down.

The chute that the ball travels on was a challenge to make but I really like the end result. It is self-explanatory.

This lever, when hit with the soccerball, pushes the barrel down the slope.

the barrel hits this slide-bar at the bottom of the slope.

As you can see, the slide-bar gets pushed forward.

Here is the line of minifigure dominoes. Most represent a theme of Lego, but others are just random people I put together. The block on the Indian Chief's head looks weird, but is necessary.

The dominoes have fallen. Oh noes!

Now, my favorite part, the see-saws. The chief falls on the first which makes them all push each other in different ways to push the dark red bar at the end forward.

Here is a slightly better picture without the pesky block in the way.

The block balances on a pole and is pushed over after the see-saws move. It falls onto the platform supported only by the brick separator.

Here is the fallen block on top of the brick separator. This concludes the whole machine.

I wrote my last name, Halliwell, in trans cheese to fill up space.

Shiny view with flash.

Although it was disheartening to work for three days and have a four second machine, I am really proud of this creation. I know that the colors are weird, but since the machine is so goofy, i wanted to give it whimsical colors. Enjoy!

@Mister Bones: Well, I did say 'not that it matters,..' because, well it doesn't. I also agree that your opponent kinda made something up to get out of actually making something like this 5/5! BTW. ~Stay complicated my friends

Quoting Heath 'kik36' Flor OMG Tyler that thing is SUPER SWEET!!!!! It looks like it was a LOT of fun to put together. I'm still a bit mad at myself for not meeting you at BW this year.....will have to rectify that next year! Welcome to the top 8, you deserve it my man!!!
We actually met for a little while, because you were in line behind me for a few minutes during the in-store event. You were mostly absorbed by texting your wife since she was in the store before you. i would have said hi, but I didn't recognize you. I will look forward to officially meeting you next year.
