Custom trailer for 8868 with 2 pneumatic functions.
About this creation
Hey, thanks for checking out my pages. In the past week I built a custom trailer for 8868, from the parts of a second 8868 and some other small stuff I had lying around. I couldn't make it as large as I wanted due to simply not having enough bricks but I ordered some second-hand sets online so my building options should expand in the near future.
It's a double-axle trailer with built-in compressor and two pneumatic functions, lowering the support wheels and raising the entire superstructure. The latter works surprisingly well with just two cilinders, even when the top is filled with tyres or random lego parts.
I tried to stick to the black-plus-yellow-on grey theme and I kind of like the looks, tho I wish I had more black parts to make the trailer more massive, it's kind of see-through now.
The height of the front bit is just low enough so that the truck can drop stuff in it, this only occured to me when it was pretty much finished but it's a nice extra :)
The trailer suits 8868 so well, and it has been very nicely constructed. I also like the cool pneumatic functionality! Now that grabber claw has somewhere to put stuff! Great Work!
I love how you have taken my all time favorite technic set and thought up new ideas for it. Your trailer here captures the look of both 8868 models, I noted the rear bumper is accurate for the set too. Please check out my creations as I also have 8868 modified set and the 8480 space shuttle!!
That looks nice, and adds loads more functionality to the original set : ) Kudos for stating the tractor unit is an official LEGO set too; soooo many people on MOCpages would neglect to mention that. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff. 4/5
