I guess the story could be like a brute's revenge type of deal that would explain why they are back.

It's a nice idea, but there are some things you can improve on. Like the place and the year, the covenant only attacked New Mombasa and the war was over on march 3th, 2553. There is no way the covenant could be there. And it would be better if you added text balloons, it gives the real 'comic feeling'.
