MO-R3-1A- Uspez Morbo vs. Jason Corlett
Round 3 MocOlympics Entry, "Musical Bricks"
About this creation
COMPLETED -- 09/18/2010

Group - 1A
Category - "Musical Bricks"
Opponent - Jason Corlett (Good luck to you, this is a very tough category and I can't wait to see what you've built!)

I've chosen to set images to Johnny Cash's song "Don't Take Your Guns To Town". You can play this Youtube video if you'd like to hear the song while perusing (I really recommend this, scrolling along with the song adds a lot!). Enjoy!

A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm
A boy filled with wonderlust who really meant no harm

He changed his clothes and shined his boots
And combed his dark hair down

And his mother cried as he walked out

Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town

He laughed and kissed his mom
And said your Billy Joe's a man

I can shoot as quick and straight as anybody can

But I wouldn't shoot without a cause
I'd gun nobody down

But she cried again as he rode away

Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town

He sang a song as on he rode

His guns hung at his hips

He rode into a cattle town

A smile upon his lips

He stopped and walked into a bar

And laid his money down
But his mother's words echoed again

Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town

He drank his first strong liquor then to calm his shaking hand
And tried to tell himself at last he had become a man

A dusty cowpoke at his side began to laugh him down
And he heard again his mother's words

Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill
Don't take your guns to town

Filled with rage then
Billy Joe reached for his gun to draw

But the stranger drew his gun and fired
Before he even saw

As Billy Joe fell to the floor
The crowd all gathered 'round
And wondered at his final words

Don't take your guns to town son
Leave your guns at home Bill

Don't take your guns to town

Both you and Jason did an excellent job interpreting your songs so it came down to build for my vote. And you got it! Good luck with the other judges! ~ Chris.

Some great action techniques I had not see before with the skeleton arms on the jetpack and the flower on the firing gun; very effective. Having put a song to LEGO before, I can appreciate the hard work put in to this, so great job and good luck with the judges.~H

I will always regret the worry I put my mother through when I was young; a moving Moc dude, this one's a tear jerker. I always loved this song, andalso the Ghetto by Elvis, both beautifully tragic. Great build man...

Excellent! I love the space western look. The town is really cool, and I love the stuff hanging on the walls at the bar. Cool idea. Good luck.

Clash of the titans, this matchup, and your entry more than lives up to expectations. Great choice of song, eye-catching builds throughout, sooo much zany background detail that you could start a new running theme off the back of this MOC. If I was wearing a hat I'd take it off to you, sir!

Loving the crazy space western feel. Some great builds just for one or two photos. Real impact too (even though I don't enjoy any form of country music!). Great stuff.

Very nicely done! The amount of detail and emotional weight is quite amazing. Like Parrington said: "not a dry eye in the house." Good luck!

This is excellent all the way around! I think it's awesome how you created an alien type of old western town. Pure genius! I would wish you luck for the judges, but I doubt you need much luck with this entry. We'll just have to wait and see what Mr. Corlett brings to the table.
