Area: Kraid. Also known as: "Kraid's Hideout", "Lower Brinstar", "that place with the awesome music and the annoying flying things".
About this creation
Be aware: autoplaying music.
I've been on a bit of a Metroid kick lately.
I took some screenshots of some of the most memorable parts of the Kraid Area. Seeing how many respawning enemies exist in this part of the game, you'll see this first section a lot.
This is the elevator room; actually, it's not a room. Kraid is built around a long 'spine', with rooms branching out. If you get lost in one of those rooms, you can expect a demise pretty quickly, as those little flying... what are they? Ah, heck. Have a pic.
Recognize these? I think they're called Zebbos or something like that.
Anyway, they take a pretty hefty toll from any unwary travellers.
Those rooms are worth an explore, though; there's items everywhere. I recall you can find the an Ice Beam there.
Well, I'm not quite sure. Wherever you find it, you'll need it to get through Kraid alive.
Or, should I say, to get out alive.
Kraid is not a welcoming area by any standards. It's stuffed to the gills with missile expansions, but that's offset by the countless irritating-flying-thing pipes.
The Sidehoppers can be a pain, too.
There's acid everywhere, as well, which really doesn't help much.
Just so you know, these are LDD mosaics, and yes, I paid a great deal of attention to the details while making them but I'm quite ready to admit there's probably some errors somewhere that I missed.
Not very 'difficult', as in skill, but getting everything in the right place was a pain and I've been procrastinating on these since May. Which is quite a long time, even for me.
So, now that's done.
Just a mention: should you want to see a scene from a different 8-bit game posted on here, all you have to do is ask nicely enough and link to a screenshot.
No guarantees are given, of course. Some colours simply cannot be approximated with LDD and I can't really do much with a tiny, low quality screenshot.
Also, if you want proof that these are real and not just really badly compressed screenshots, just say and I'll email you the LDD files.
Rate if you wish, comment if the fancy strikes you. I'm not saying not commenting will cause something sturdier than a fancy to strike you, nope, not at all...
Holy shazbot...if I didn't know better, I would have assumed you copy, cut and pasted the fool thing! Honestly, I am at a severe loss for words to even begin to complement this masterpiece!!! 500/5 stars!

WHAT THE HECK! are you SURE thats LEGO?
LDD. Depends on your definition, I suppose. Basically, it's one pixel = 1 stud. Good thing those old console games have rather low resolutions. I've actually done this before: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/169793
