In a reconstructed Spherus Magna, the heroes we all know have gone long ago, and their heroic histories are no more than legends. The society is split up, with several guilds spread trought the planet. From five to five years, the best warriors of the guilds get together in a enormous tournament, similar to that ones from the past, but now the objectives are not the possession of lands or resources anymore, now it's for entertainment and to prove wich warrior is the greater... At least it's what people thinks...
About this creation
The tournament's official Smith, Kaihatu is a technological genius.

A member of the Matoran species and former member of the Canyon Guild, he left it in search of the most advanced manufacturing technologies all over the whole planet. One day, however, he was attacked by a furious band of Iron wolves, and get severely wounded, loosing his legs and left hand. A travelling Glatorian sow the whole thing and saved him from the beasts before it was too late. He took care of the inconscious Matoran for several days.

When he finally got better, he got some materials and built for himself a wheeled prostetic (later replaced by these big spider-like mechanical legs) and a multi-tool hand( wich is very useful in the weapon making activity, specially when dealing with small pieces and hot metal) and continued his journey. He eventually learned the most diverse techniques and became really famous for all of the high-quality and inovative weapons and gadgets he created in his way.

Years ago, he was hired by the tournament's creators as it's official smith, fixing all the warrior's damaged weapons and equipments, and also getting comissioned to make some special ones (such as Belgrun's bladed shield, one of his personal favorites). He became veyr popular amongst the competitors due to his morose, but fun, personality, always telling them stories about the old, good days and the smith art...

4th Wall Commentary: Well, with this one I tried to make something different from a standard Matoran/Toa-like MOC for this theme. The idea came from a very, very old MOC of mine(it doesn't even have a picture), that had a wheel instead of legs. I took the idea foward and gave him a nice mechanical spider-like set of legs, but also keeping the wheel idea, just for some personal nostalgia. I also tried to give a very rustic, sort of steam/cyberpunkish feeling to it, with lots of gears and assymetric details, like it was made from scrap, with no worries about the design...

And that's all folks! Hope you liked it...

VERY nice. Although if you think about it, maybe he should have something covering his eyes? He does do a lot of welding, after all. |
