The BNNA Federation is a collective of planets in one of the more curious outskirts of space. Officially, BNNA stands for Betelgeusian Nations for Neutral Alliance. These letters were soon turned into the BANANA Republic by its people. Of course, their federation ship colours and uniforms didn't help here.
About this creation
Regardless, BNNA had an awesome fleet and some highly trained pilots. Let's take a look at three of their more successful models.
(you can click on the images for a larger view)

The Musa X is essentially a minifig-scale longship, used as a long range non-atmospheric fighter. Its pilots can't help but call it 'the straight banana'.

The Musa has two different sets of engines. One normal set, used at cruise speeds. And one extra set, for extra power in dogfight situations.

Like its predecessors (the Musa I till IX), this longship is fitted with a set of wings to house some of the guns, and more importantly, the engines. By housing the engines in the wings, the ship becomes much more agile than a traditional longship.

The weapons the Musa X carries are....well let's just say it has more then enough.

The second ship in this presentation is the famous Pt41-n Tamal heavy atmospheric fighter. A very popular ship by its pilots, it was basically four enormous engines and a cockpit and some guns and rockets.

But not only that. It had multiple layers of a very thick armour, rendering it a very, very fast flying tank.

Imagine this flying at you at unimaginable speeds....wait, no. You can't. Okay, imagine this firing all its guns at you, while you were very hardpressed to even shoot a dent in it. Got it now?

Top view of the tamale, er, the Tamal. I really like this compact sleek shape.

A look at the smug pilot sitting inside the cockpit.

Oh, hey! This section also opens, showing the inner workings of the ship.

All the sections peeled off, so you can have a look inside.

"Yes, it appears that I'm controlling the action here."

Our third ship may not look like much. But what this gnat fighter didn't have in armour, it made up in speed. And in numbers! No less than hundreds of these were launched, from space-born hangars, at a time in any operation.

The Fruitfly, as they call it, is nothing more than a cockpit suspended between two combined engine/gun sections, making it one of the fastest fighters ever in space combat.

In the back section of the cockpit, there is a limited storage for life support, communications and navigation control. That is all, and it is also why the FF42 had a limited range.

I like the submarine engines as connectors between the sections.

Simple yet effective, I think.

All three ships together at last.
+++++++
Hope you enjoyed watching this. I certainly enjoyed building these.
(Can you guess all the banana references I put in the names and descriptions?)
+++++++ BONUS IMAGES +++++++

Contruction of the inner workings.

Those engines may be simple, but I think they're really nice.

I like this creation for the background story alone(which is funny by the way), and of course the ships are nice too.I agree with others that you should develop the theme further(like adding a comic strip perhaps?).I think you're on to something here.
Thanks. I'll give it some thought. I was thinking maybe a bigger mothership for them or something. But right now, I've started on a new SHIP that isn't going too fast ;) |

hahaha this is great Steef ! I can't decide which one I prefer. It's close to Suntron, but much more funny with this banana idea. Love that windscreen you've used on the third one, you don't see it everyday. Excellent !

Great ships.
and may i recommend making a BNNA group, because i think you're on to something with banana themed ships.
Hmm that is a nice idea, but I only have this one post to put in it. Maybe if someone else makes one in this theme (and by all means, do), they could make the group and I'll add mine to it.

Some pretty advanced technology there. Good thing they don't have a bunch of monkeys for pilots!
I was tempted to do this at first, but thought better of it. Too obvious, you see. But I bet someone will step up and add a banana-shaped ship piloted by monkeys pretty soon now ;)

1. Musa X - Standard banana, multiple uses. Usually not straight though.
2. Pt41-n Tamal - Banana leaves wrap? I thought it was corn husk.
3. Fruitfly - they'd attack any fruit for that matter. ... Amazing concepts that came to fruition!
It's very appeeling. Pt41-n is also a reference to plantain btw.

Stef, these are all very creative designs. Great color too. I don't see a lot of yellow for space related MOCs. The interior of the Tamal (Tamale) is amazing. Regards, Eric. |
