About this creation
This creation is one that's been in the back of my mind for years now, something I haven't built because of a lack of official sails. But when I saw the Imperial Flagship for the first time at BrickCon last year, this idea immediately popped into my head, and I just had to go ahead and try to build it properly.
This ship is based off of the Sloop Providence replica, which is docked about five minutes from my house; as I would drive by it, it would just scream at me to build it. Although it is a Revolutionary War ship, I love the arctic whaling scene too much not to make it a whaling ship (going after a narwhal.) I look at this MOC as the refined and definitive Thar She Blows!, which was built in December 08'.
Having built ships in the past, I try to build each in a different way. In this case, the hull is built studs-out, with a series of hinges and string winding it up inside - it was surprisingly stable!

What an incredible build, and what an inspired series of techniques! I've never done a brick-built hull, let alone one held together with string. Beautiful. |

Partly because of this posting, I find that you seem to be an expert at building historically accurate ships and I think that you would be a true source of inspiration and a valuable giver of advice to future shipbuilders, so I have taken the liberty to invite you to my new group “Ship Builders guide”. |

Wonderful hull. Before building my first entry I´ve looked at it many times -decided to go in another direction. But this looks so great. |

Nice! I know how hard it is to build a ship without the official bow piece |

Well done, the hull design is one of the most unique I've seen! Also, that narwhal is simply brilliant, and I STILL can't figure out how you did the angle for the hull:) A very good job mate, keep bricking! |
