Ystel Island
Ystel Island, a legendary island off the coast of Legonia.
About this creation

Island

Ystel Island is an Island in the world of Legonia. It travels in an irregular "orbit", getting nearest to the coast every 3-5 years, each time in a different location. Because of it is contantly traveling, the land is not very good for growing crops. For this reason, the villagers mostly eat fish. On holidays and special occasions, they will hunt for meat but do not do so often to avoid depopulating the island of land animals, whose meat they consider a delicacy. The island is moved by the power of the Wizards of the city.

On the island, there are a few significant landmarks. The black areas on the map are where there are interchangeably deserts and icelands (depending on it's location). The transparent blue and clear parts are water (I ran out of transparent blue). The village the multicolored area with lots of different-colored round parts. There are small mountains over near the beach. The beach is the tan pips. The only two fertile areas are the green and green and orange places (behind the mountains). There are three cave entrances (represented by the small slope bricks).

The caves are one of the few important landmarks. They connect to each other underground, and there is one underground cave passageway known as the viewing passage. It is a natural wonder made entirely out of thin diamond so sea life can be viewed through the walls. On the rare occasions that the island has visitors, they are often taken to the passage to see the view.

There is also a treasured ring that is alive and insane, and is able to communicate with it's wearer. It is made of solid Gold and Studded with Rubies.

Villagers

The villager of the island are variants of Humans. After about 30 centuries of isolation, they had evolved into beings very similar to humans but they are physically weaker but have greater intelligence and innate magical powers. Their magic is weak on it's own but many become wizards. The more powerful wizard's heads become transparent as a show of their magical power. They still function as normal with a transparent head except that they constantly emit a small amount of light. Nobles and other important people often have painted bodies to show off their status.

Villagers.

The Ruler and his Guards.

A Wizard Apprentice, a Wizard, and a Head Wizard.

A traveller.

The people of the Island fish for food but they don't need as much food as a human. They will often trade with the locals when they near the coast but if they are dangerous they return as soon as possible and the island hurries off. Sometimes, when the trade is good the island remains in one location for up to two months.

Religion

The inhabitants of the Island worship birds, believing that they represent the island in it's journeys. In particular, they worship the Ice Bird as a God. Their main God and savior is Nukte, who they worship every week in a ceremony where they cast a great magical spell in his honor.

Food

Meat is eaten only on holidays and rare occasions because it is so scarce. The most common food is fish, with a mix of wild vegetables and some crops (those are also rare) mixed in. Eating bird is forbidden-it is a sin punishable by exile from the city.

Crops are grown and harvested in an area near far from the city, so they are a rarity almost as scarce as meat. For this reason, they only eat bread and crops once every month.

History

The Island was split from the landmass due to an Earthquake caused by the Wrath of a Dark God. It was once part of the Southern area of the Legonia continent.

Around 200 years later, the native humans witnessed the Legendary Icebird fly across the Island. They worshipped it and it returned every 4 1/2 years.

1400 BPD: The humans gave up eating land animals because they were too scarce. They began to practice magic, and those born with magical abilities were given better treatment and had a better chance of survival. They also began to move the island with their magic.

1200 BPD: The humans on the island become more intellectual. They became a completely different race at some time within the next 600 years, developing their own artistic styles, spells, technologies, and more.

200 BPD: The island was moored for an entire year because of good relations with the middle kingdom.
Present Day: The Island nears the coast of Legonia yet again, but this time, it's arrival is precedented.

Wildlife

The Island has little in the way of wildlife, although it's ocean contains many species of sea creatures. There are one or two very dangerous land creatures too, but they are considered legendary and rarely are seen on the island. More common creatures include wolves, rabbits, foxes, and squirrels.

There are a few truly legendary creatures on the island:

The Ice Bird

Worshipped as a God, the Ice Bird flies around the island every 4 1/2 years, creating magnificient ice sculptures in it's wake. These last a few days, dissapear as if they had never been there. It then flies into a cave and dissapears, not to return for another 4 1/2 years. The bird is immortal and often brings gifts on it's flights. The cave is enters seals itself after it enters, and the secret of the island is that that cave is a portal to the realm of the Gods.

The Red Beast

The Red Beast appears even more rarely than the Ice Bird, a fortunate thing for the Island folk. Once it appears, it rampages through the island and then travels to the shores of Legonia and destroys entire cities. Only a group of ultra-powerful wizards can hope to put it back to sleep and this is only temporary.

Nukte

Nukte is a legendary being, appearing as a Pheonix that can transform into a man. He has only appeared once on the Island and showed the Island people about magic. For this, he is worshipped as their savior and they pray for his return, which would eventually come once the Red Beast destroyed the entire Island. It was foretold that Nukte would arise at that time and fight with the Red Beast, and both would die.

Quoting Christian Schlichting Haven't comment yet. Thanks for all the ideas and your minifig designs. I'm reworking the wiki articles for it, hope it's ok if i change your timetable a bit? Because it must fit better to the original timeline of Legonia.
Can I see them first? (BPD means Before Present Day).

Very nice, that diamond passage is very interesting, I like the microscale, you should ask Christian what category to put this Island under so you can add this info to Wiki Legonia, the idea of trying to avoid depopulating the island of land animals by the race is well thought, Great add To Legonia

I like how you used the clear studs, and seeing the villagers in minifig scale was fun. I liked the middle wizard a lot, you made a good use of the Geonosian torso and legs.
