On the verge of bankruptcy, DM Industries absolutely had to release a highly successful product to stay in business.
Several sleepless nights and weeks of research later, the DM Model 1 Trike was born: the world's first hydroelectric-powered motorised tricycle, capable of up to 400+mph (but marketed as 240mph). Only 30 of these vehicles would be built, with ten of them already allocated to high-profile customers.
Captured in these photos was the exhibit at the annual Expo, showcasing a blue trike. Nobody thought DM Industries would even exist at the time, let alone have an exhibit, but - thanks to their sponsors - the unveiling of the vehicle signaled their triumphant recovery.
The whole concept started out completely differently. I had become inspired to build my own armoury, after seeing greylego's incredible effort for BrickArms. I went as far as purchasing as many BrickArms parts as I could afford, and even investing in other parts to build the armoury. Then I decided that I wanted to incorporate a garage into the design.
The DM Trike was the only vehicle cool enough to ride into the armoury, so I built a basic design in LDD before testing it out with a brick build.
While I still had yet to design the armoury, I decided to build an exhibit display for the trike, seeing as I liked it so much.
I'm proud of the trike because it deviates from all the other vehicle MOCs I've seen: nobody else seems to have gone for a tricycle, which I think are the coolest things ever.
