The East Africa Campaign of World War II was fought between the forces of the British Empire and the Italian Empire. It started with Italian bombing of a British air base in Kenya and ended with the Battle of Gondar,Ethiopia.
The Campaign lasted from June 10, 1940 – November 27, 1941

This Battle happens to be The Battle of Keren one of the major battles of the campaign.
Keren was a strategic town for both sides. It was located in the mountains of Eritrea and the Italians had strong defensive positions in the mountains which made battle difficult for the British.
The Battle lasted form February 3, 1941 - April 1, 1941 and was described as one of the hardest battles ever fought by the British. And it was said but except for the German parachute division in Italy and the Japanese in Burma no enemy with whom the British Troops fought a finer fight with than the Italians at Keren. However,wartime propaganda allowed the British to portray the Italians as almost comical warriors.
