A four horse Mail Coach.
About this creation
This is a Mail Coach making it's way between villages and linking the country together. Mail Coaches were the fastest and most secure way of getting around the countryside. On the roads out of London many a Highwayman tried to make a dishonest living robbing the mail and the passengers.

This was made for the CCC3 competition, vehicles category. I think I got an honourable mention, but the winner (a ship) was far better then this little thing!

Built: 2005.
Current status: Intact.

Enlarge image 		   The coachman soon has them underway, they will report the robbery to the Constable at the next stop.

Enlarge image 		   You might notice the design of the coach is very similar to that of the classic wild-west coaches.



Enlarge image 		   That's not surprising as coaches were used throughout Europe until around the 1850's when trains had pretty much taken over.



Enlarge image 		   This is of course around the same time as the west was being 'won' and the technology is the same.



Enlarge image 		   Real horses don't like to be suspended in the air like this - so don't try it!

(There was a real Highwayman called Dick Turpin, he was a very nasty peice of work and was finally caught, tried and hung.)
