My second compilation of Pokemon. Some turned out quite well, some turned out okay, and some, well... let's just say I need to hit the LEGO store again before trying to fix them.
About this creation
For those of you who are confused by the main pic, take a look at my original Pokemon Compilation so you can read all the lame jokes you missed the first time around!
And now for the Poke-Fails; the Pokemon that weren't good enough to avoid being scrapped immediately after the photoshoot, but photographed and posted just so you can laugh at them. Enjoy!
Rhydon is not a Poke-Fail, but I put him on here because I fattened him up since my last compilation.
This is my first shot at Magneton. I really liked the magnet part of this because the transparent pieces looked awesome when you held this guy up to the light, but he was only round from one angle, wasn't even close to minifig scale, and overall kinda sucked.
Pinsir turned out better than my first shot at Magneton, but was too difficult to get just right. Time to bricklink some brown.
Dugtrio. What a joke.
The evolutionary family of Bellsprout, Weepinbell, and Victreebell.
Bellsprout was a decent enough build, but too off-color and a little too thick for my taste.
I probably wouldn't do Weepinbell any other way, but he still looks like some kind of satellite. Some Pokemon just weren't meant to be made in LEGO.
Victreebell was a combination of running out of yellow and running out of enthusiasm after building bellsprout and weepinbell. I might redo him eventually.
Intermission...
...Okay, now on to the better-built Pokemon.
Gengar, the coolest ghost Pokemon ever.
I almost didn't put Gengar in the "Good" half of the compilation, but I spent the better part of an hour trying to get him right, so I'll be darned if he's not going to be in this here production!
The main problems I encountered when building Gengar were the boxiness, the smile, and the color. I tried to fix the boxiness by putting a circular tile on top of his head, but that only helped with the sides, leaving the top flat. The smile completely stumped me. As for the color...
There, that's better.
Beedrill was a pretty easy build, but he ended up looking better than most.
I'm calling you out this time, Bones. That's a stinger, it doesn't help Beedrill get the ladies.
Sandslash has always been one of my favorite Pokemon, so I wanted him to be one of the best builds in the compilation. After a long period of making adjustments (again, Bones, young eyes are reading your comments), I wasn't disappointed.
I had the most trouble finding a suitable head design, but the spines were even better than I expected.
Here's Magneton take two.
Not much to say here except, "Wow, I'm glad I didn't go with the first one!"
Here's killing two birds with one stone: instant Magnemite!
The crown jewel of this compilation: Onix.
Onix is my largest Pokemon build yet, which makes sense because he is the largest of the original 150 Pokemon. I wanted to put him on a pedestal, but a diorama looked better.
This is what happens when your background falls over right when you take a picture. I was going to delete this, but it looked kinda cool. Blastoise used surf!

Head shot. It took me a while (not to mention a good chunk of my grey slopes) to get the head right, but I'm very proud of it.
I almost went with giving Onix eyes. Glad I didn't.
If you haven't noticed, I'm kind of going through a Pokemon phase, and it's really fun. I encourage others to try building Pokemon, and if anyone has requests for gen. 1 (maybe gen. 2 if I'm feeling generous) Pokemon, go ahead and ask! I really like these! The beedrill, onix and gengar are awesome! It would be cool if you done one of the scenes from the anime where team rocket gets sent blasting off again by a swarm of beedrill. you should also have a go at ghastly and haunter, I reckon you could make them really well. I plan on making a pokemon compilation soon too, it would be good if you took a look at them! Awesome moc- Connor :) |

Lovely work :D I love the Onix, Ben Cossy told me that you did one of those after I suggested him trying to do one (He's doing a Complimation soon I think), because Onix is my favourite Pokemon ever :D I'd fave you if I hadn't already :P Keep it up, and I can't wait for the next episode of your Pokemon CYOA and the next Complimation (if you do another) :D |
