SF-31 Ballista Star Fighter
Well it appears that Dr. Whackemoff got into the stellar pixie dust and has gone off the deep with this one. His latest creation can only be described as the bizarre mating of a hubcap from a Ford Pinto and one exceptionally lonely or maybe drunk horseshoe crab! This two man star-fighter is another custom job for G.A.I.A’s Secret Intelligence Division (S.I.D.). Col. Nikolas Kamirzakoff ordered the SF-31 be tailor made for the S.K.A.R.S. (Suicide Kings Atrocity Retribution Stratagem) Project’s latest cyber assassins, the Shadow Coolies. Just like the SF-3 Vengeance, a rough exterior was purposely chosen to hide the capabilities and more importantly the origins of this ship.
About this creation

A primary weapon found on this war machine is the Ballista-X (hence the name of this fighter) series electromagnetic rail gun. The barrel runs the length of the ship and its sole purpose is to provide that “one shot, one kill” level of firepower necessary for destroying enemy ships. The large device seen above the gun and in front of the FTL drive is the targeting array. In fact the entire point of this fighter was to create a weapons platform that could outgun any other ship it meets and kill its intended target. This gun is controlled by Beta the co-pilot/gunner Shadow Coolie. A P-47 Soul Scorcher heavy plasma cannon is mounted under the barrel of the rail gun giving it a classic over and under waepon configuration. An Ajax-2 Series Electro Magnetic Force Shield Generator is also built into the fuselage of the SF-31. Identical to the model seen on the Vengeance it provides the necessary protection as Beta lines up a perfect shot with the rail gun.

Side view of the Ballista star fighter.

This shot of the tail reveals the Faster Than Light (FTL) drive mounted behind the dual-cockpit. Various mounting clamps and power relays are visible as well. As with all of Dr. W.s’ other ships, a matter/anti-matter chamber is the SF-31’s power supply. It also reveals the secondary thrusters for maneuvering attached to each side of the drive system.

The Vengeance is also equipped with three sets of triple barreled pulse laser cannons. Two sets are mounted forward and controlled by Alpha the pilot. The third set is mounted on a rear firing turret that Beta can manually operate or can be automatically set to fire on any target in range. Getting hit by these guns generally leaves little more than enough debris fill up a shoebox once the explosions are all said and done.

Here we see the twin canopies open revealing our pilot and gunner.

This shot shows the underside detailing the full compliment of forward firing weapons. There is no folding landing gear on the SF-31. Hard points are strategically placed underneath the craft.

While this rearwars underside picture gives another angle of the the turret cannon,

The central dome under the center of the fuselage is actually a detachable cargo-bin containing all of their weapons are inside it. These include Alpha’s twin D-17 blaster pistols, Beta’s LR-100 hyper-velocity sniper rifle, two M-90 assault rifles, vibro-katanas and harnesses for their weaponry. When the bin is detached from the ship, it can land on two wing mounted hard points along with the tail gun acting as the third.

The pod can easily hold all of their gear for any mission.

Here we see their weapons laid out with the sniper rifle separated into its separate components.

This picture is the same except the sniper rifle is assembled and ready for business!

Alpha and Beta are identical without their gear. There is no question this is an intentional tactis they use to confuse their tagets.

Only after donning their gear do we see that Alpha carrying his pistols while Beta sets up his sniper rifle.

From behind we can see how thay carry their assault rifles and katanas.

The flight controls in Alpha’s cockpit uses a twin joystick system to fly the SF-31.

Beta’s trigger controls are tied to a Sure-Kill targeting computer. With such a system in place, it is sheer suicide to attack this fighter with anything less than a capital ship and even then victory may not be guaranteed!

After landing on a deserted runway, these faceless and utterly ruthless super-assassins are ready to do some killin', old school style. Have fun you two!

Quoting Histo Sci Very unusual, but very cool. Like the classic space feel and color scheme.
Thanks, I like to try strange designs to see what happens. Fortunately this one came out well.

Quoting Ultramarine . Nice job! Very original design, with a slight retro look to it. I see you're a fan of the Mars 1/4 pieces too!
I use whatever I have laying around and those were the pieces that worked the best. The retro look was intentional, I'm just glad I pulled it off.

Quoting Master Shifu Leo J "bizarre mating of a hubcap from a Ford Pinto and one exceptionally lonely or maybe drunk horseshoe crab!" ... Hilarious! But nonetheless, cool color combo, mondo firepower, and the "quadruple red tail fins" makes it sweet!
Thanks, I felt like going retro with this one and see what happened. I figured either others would either love it or hate it. The story needed a twist of insanity but most of all I was simply going for a ship that matched the personalities of my cyber-assasin Shadow Coolies.

Quoting Parrington Levens hahaha, love the china hat aliens, and that sniper rifle is insane!
Nothing's more dangerous than a coolie chock full of cannons whose on a mission to blow a minifig away! The sniper rifle is a little piece I cooked up a while ago that needed the right triggerman to wield it and now there is one, or two.

Quoting Jason Dominguez Very interesting design. It kind of reminds me of the old Spyrius theme. Interesting idea with the equipment drop too.
Actually your right, most of these parts came from the Spyrius set that I bought back in the 90's along with parts I scavenged from my Mars Mission sets. I'm curious though, every time I'm in the middle of posting a new MOC, you always find it even before I've finished putting it up? I don't mind and in fact I'm pleased you like my work so much! Feel free to comment as much as you please. I'm greatful for all the positive support I receive.
