It's been a long time since I posted anything on here - these days I have very little time to devote to Lego. Also my Lego and I can't be together any more, at least for a while, so I'm stuck with MLCAD.

My last update was a preview image of part of an M16 rendered in LDView on my homepage. That model was badly planned and the more I worked on it the more I realised it wouldn't work. So I'm back with a similar model, only more planning has gone into this, and so far I've made more progress on it than I ever did with the last attempt.

It's an M4. Perhaps. I'm making it in several small modules so that changes to certain parts can be made easily, and once it's finished I'll build parts to make it into several variants of the M4/M16/HK416 family.

Unlike previous guns of mine, where I've built the gun around a firing mechanism, I'm building a shell for this one first, and designing a firing mechanism to fit inside it, so there's no compromise on realism from the outside at least. Since it's only a CAD model it doesn't really need to fire anyway, so I'm only going to start building the firing mechanism after I have a full gun body to show off on MOCpages.

Before anyone asks for instructions or dat files, I won't be uploading them until it's finished. There are still a few flaws to iron out in what I've built so far. And there will probably be revised dat files for the firing version.
