Truck 1 "Tower of Power"
About this creation
Truck 1 is a 2010 Pierce Velocity/1988 Saulsbury/Baker Custom 75' Mid-Mount Platform Tower Ladder. The rig used to be a 1988 Mack CF/Saulsbury with a 75' Baker Tower Ladder that served as Truck 1 until it was removed from service in 1998. It was then used in the FDLC's reserves until 2003 when it was taken out of reserve service and placed in the City Garage to be sold for scrap. In early 2010, the FDLC and the City Council made the decision that it would be less expensive to refurbish one of the old Mack Tower Ladders than purchase a brand new tower ladder from Pierce. Thus, the old Truck 1 was refurbished by Pierce with the addition of a new 2010 Pierce Velocity 8-man cab with a complete set of LED's.
The New Truck 1 will runs out of Fire Station # 1 in Downtown Liberty City with Engine 1. Truck 1 will also be staffed with a minimum of one driver, one captain, and two firefighters at all times. Some new features on this new rig include a gang box on the roof of the cab, rookie bars, an extended bumper with stabilizers, a complete set of LED's, a new brow light above the windshield, searchlights on the side of the rig, and a complete cab interior. A ladder board with the company name and number will be added in the near future.
Truck 1 is nicknamed "Tower of Power" because of the large call volume it responds to annually and the hard work the rig and it's crew does at fires.
This rig is also the first of it's kind(I believe) to be built in Legos, on LDD, or in real bricks. Once I perfect the design, I plan to build it in real bricks.
Truck 1 was modeled after Sayville, NY's New Ladder 9, and my own designs. Inspiration/Credit for this rig goes to two great builders: Matt J. and Paul B.

Great job Emmett! I'm really liking the combination of the aerialscope and Velocity cab. Did you happen to se one on the Internet and used it as inspiration? ' Cause I've seen one and it was nice, anyways keep 'em comin'!!!
Thanks Jessie! I really liked the idea of a Velocity/Baker Scope combo, so I decided to try to build one. I got most of my inspiration from Sayville, NY's New Ladder 9( http://firematic.com/trucksnew/sayville_refurb10/index.htm).

Hi Emmit. I am sorry about all off the best apparatus builders leaving.its my fault. i turned over my site to my younger cousin about a month ago hoping he'd carry on my work. He seemed up to the job, Excited, anxious, and willing. I guess he didn't understand the fragile nature of communities. to be honest I've moved on. Lego isn't as thrilling anymore. If you don't believe me fine, but i know i have to take full responsibility because it was my descision to pass it on. if i had know he would directly copy everyones work i wouldnt have done it. Like I said i am terribly sorry for bringing this "plague" upon you. I deleted the "Commander Nelson" account. I was too late though.....
Sincerely- Dylan Nelson |
