About this creation

A random selection of small retro doodles. Think Flash Gordon, think cheesy 30's sci-fi pulp, etc. I've had less Lego-time lately so I've been enjoying building small scenes, vigs or just playing with minifigs. Also I was saving these up on Flickr to post as a coherent group but they're a bit scattershot; if you've already seen them on Flickr I apologise for the repetition. Enjoy!

Dr Orkuss, arms trader, wanted in fifteen systems, loves his pet robo-parrot....because Cobra Commander looked cooler as the Doctor :) Sorry

The Czaron, ruthless despot of the Nzzerah system:

And his gigantic robotic minion, the Usurpor!
Czaron: "This is your final test, Usurpor. There must be no survivors, I want that planet back."
Usurpor: "YES MASTER. I WILL OBEY."

Trapped under Ice! An idea for a robot discovering a frozen human explorer in an ice cave. Unfinished due to Lameness.

Quite like this guy; I've been fascinated looking at heaps of awesome Warhammer 40k stuff lately, this is what a retro Space Marine might look like? (Dakkadakka.com has a great gallery).

"Who's been snooping aroung MY planet?!" Lameness abounds.

Professor Jansen? bzzt
Have you returned from your geological survey? bzzt
You were absent 47 days, 6 hours, 19 minutes and 52 seconds bzzt

Professor...

Enslavement on Voctus Prime!
"The slower you push meatbags the harder I whip!"

High atop Golden City, a wing'd Royal Guardsman watches for signs of trouble...
(love the thought of a golden city in the clouds).

Distress on Rigel 6!
Oh what intergalactic horror have our heroes bumped into this time???

(Originally they were holding hands, at the last moment I made the bot hide behind the human. Hmmm...)

Remember SPACE BOREDOM??? Well it doesn't just affect humans you know...
"S.T.A.N.L.E.Y., what are you doing?"
"Working on my putting sir."
"Oh dear."

Retro explorer suit:
God how I LOVE that red baseplate!

And to finish on a high: Crimso Giger's Suntron theme!
"Dude what's with Number Two this morning, struttin' around? Gait glitch or what?"
"Er, I think he 'got lucky' with your mobile suit last night dude..."
"Dude, ok, I have no idea what that means but EWWWW!..."

What? All those "custom figs" and not a single sharpie in the bunch... I'm disappointed in you. HAHAHA Great work ShannO! I have to agree with Mark that the presentation on this is simple superb! ~ Chris.

I like the past and these guys and bots are pretty entertaining to look at. I like seeing them on Flickr but the full page presentation here is better. see ya. garth

Aside from some really fun building, the shots are...dare I say it...out of this world (god, that pun even hurts my teeth). Seriously, though, shot number seven in this batch just couldn't get any better. Great stuff, Shan!

Missed these the first time round on Flikr. Must have been while my 'pooter was down with a bad case of guinness. (aparently 'pooters don't hold their liquor well, who knew?) i don't always get lego impressionism, retro sci-fi or world cup football but i definitely sympathize with short playing times. This collection here though is a hoot. It's simplicity doesn't come across as rushed but as elegance, no wasted pieces. And your sense of humor is like a tour through the whole sunday funnies, back when they were funny. wow, that's a burdensome way to say i like these. Apparently i'm not too good at compliments either.
