2010 MOCie Awards!
About this creation
(When noted, the speeches and commentary were written by the named builder.)

Good evening everyone, and welcome to the third annual MOCpages MOCie Awards held here at theLIU's Gungan Theater! I'm your host Lee Jones. I'm doing this as part of my community service that I was assigned after that whole MocAthon incident back in December. We have a great show in store for you tonight, with top notch entertainment! And let’s not forget, the reason you’re all here, the awards! This year we had 14 categories where you all voted for your favorite MOCs and MOCers. Now, let’s get on with the show!

Our first category is for Best Castle. And the nominees are. Eggy Pop's Estuary Stronghold, Matija Grguric's Castle New Rock, Aliencat's Abbey of Saint Rumare, Legolord’s Dawn Moore Castle, Luke Watkins' For Whom The Bell Tolls and Fordlandia by Mark Bauer.

And the MOCie for best castle goes to…

Castle New Rock by Matija Grguric!

Matija: “Wow, thank you MOCpages. I know you’re all already jealous of me for my huge Lego collection, my building skills AND the fact that Klementina Kos is my girlfriend, but now, you have just one more thing to be jealous of me for! Thank you everyone!

Our next award is for the best Town or City MOC. And the nominees are, Matija Grguric's Fallingwater, Minifig English mansion by Anthony De Winter,
Shannon Young's Wackyland, Space Pirate’s Public library and Aliencat for Escape from Planet Monday.

And the winner is…

Matija Grguric for Falling Water! Get back up here Matija!

Matija: Ok, make that two more things.

Our next award is for best Microscale creation. The nominees are, Mont St. Michel by Arthur Gugick, Wrath of God by Kevin Walter, Star Wars EF76 Nebulon-B medical escort frigate “Redemption” by Steef de Prouw, Star Wars Driod Control Ship by Paul Yperman, Blocktropolis by Thomas N. and Hammerturtle Class Carrier by Pierre Fieschi

And the winner for Mircoscale is, Steef de Prouw for his Star Wars EF76 Nebulon-B medical escort frigate Redemption! Come on up here.

(Speech written by Steef)
Steef: “Thank you all for nominating my Redemption. Really.
Although I think it's one of my best efforts yet, I was surprised to see it nominated between such great entries. Let alone it should win.
I think I'll go and cry a bit now. Tears of joy and laughter and also some tears of shame. Again, thank you very much.”

Our next award goes the opposite of micro, to Macroscale. Creations built larger than normal minifig scale. The nominees are Olympus C730 Ultra Zoom by Sven Junga,
Soccer Table by 2x4, Nintendo by Dave Sterling, Red Squirrel by Family Vuurzoon and Klingon Warrior by Dave and John Xandegar.

And the MOCie goes to, Dave Sterling for Nintendo!

Dave: “Thank you everyone for voting for the Nintendo. And thank you Lee Jones for purchasing it at the charity auction at this year’s Brickworld!”

They say laughter is the best medicine. Unless you’re me then you say that it’s expensive medication… I’ve got a Lego habit to support ya know! But when you can’t afford your medication, you can fall back on laughter while you die a slow and painfully horrible death… Ok then, the nominees for Funniest MOC are
Hans Dendauw's MOC Athalon 2010, Song: I think I'm a clone now, Freela’s A Day In The Life of Mark A. Kelso, Chris Phipson for "A ChristMOCs Carol" Heath Flor's Triangulate This! Cafe Corner Build MOCathalon Entry, Emperor Ludgonious for LIU Atlas “M31-P5” and Wes Pitter for “The Waffle King”

And the winner is… Freela for A Day In The Life of Mark A. Kelso!

(Written by Freela)
While I would like to express my surprise that only one of my fabulous creations were even nominated, I admit that I harbored no doubts that no serious builder could fail to recognize the brilliance put forth and reward it! I would also like to take this time to thank the judges for arranging this ceremony as a way to exalt my genius and perhaps even let a few other select people feel honored that they were able to "compete" on my level, although, to tell the truth, I won by default due to my status as an Evil Dictator. Moving right along, I would also like- Hey, my time can't be up yet, I've hardly even gotten started here, how else will everyone hear about my other great achievements? I'll bet Kelso will talk for hours…

Next up is the award for best on going theme. The nominees are Coalition of Planets by Ian Macdonald, CHIBI by Moodswim, United Nations of Earth by John Moffat, LIU Atlas by Emperor Ludgonious, Glomshire Knights by Dennis Price and Suntron by Crimso Giger.

And the winner is, The LIU Atlas by Emperor Ludgonious!

Doog will be accepting the award on the Emperor’s behalf.

(Written by Emperor Ludgonious)
Doog: "Billions of stars, millions of planets, and one award winning host. That's LIU Atlas."

Next up is best story. The nominees are
Philosophy of a Machine by Awesome-o-saurus The Not-So-Great, Mark Kelso for Apocalypsis part two, Chris Phipson for The Tanneth Incident, Mister Bones: the Kiwi Connection Trilogy, "Blockocop" by Dennis Price and Crimso Giger for MOColympics Round 5 - Crimso Giger vs Chas

And the MOCie goes to, Mark Kelso for Apocalypsis part two!

Mark: Really, was there any doubt? I mean come on, Young, Phipson and Price TOGETHER couldn’t outwrite me! I am not only a Lego god but a literary one as well! You people should give me a Pulitzer, not one of these worthless MOCies… wait, what, I get free Lego for this?

Mark: Thank you all so much for this great honor! I am humbled and awestruck by your generosity.

That concludes the first half of our show. It’s now time for something that’s become a crowd favorite of these awards, the half time show. This year, rather than just one act, we scoured MOCpages to bring you a variety of first class entertainment. First up, the MOCpages Cheerleaders!

MOCpages, MOCpages sis boom bort. Our great leader Sean Kenney is not short!

Rick em, rack em, rook em ROCK! I wanna touch your great big MOC!

GoooooOOOO MOCpages!

Thank you girls.

Next up for your entertainment, the stand-up comedy stylings of Stuart Delahay!

(stand up routine written by Stuart… direct all hate mail to him.)

Two buckets of vomit are walking down the street, when one stops and starts crying.
"What's up with you?" asks his friend. He replies
"I was brought up around here"

A nun, three midgets, a horse and Mike Tyson walk into a bar. The barman asks
"Is this some knd of joke?"

Three brothers with unusual names are out hiking. One is called 'Bite Me', another is called 'Manners' and the third is christened 'Dog Turds'. While walking along a mountain path, Dog Turds slips and falls, injuring himself when landing 50 feet below. His brothers quickly decide that Manners should stay with him while Bite Me heads for civilization to get help. On arrivinig
in the next town he rushes to the police station.
"Quickly, please, my brother's had a terrible accident and needs help" The kindly officer tries to
reassure him.
"OK son, now calm down. We'll get some help for him. First, tell me your name"
"Bite Me" replies the boy. The officer looks concerned.
"Now son, I know you're upset, but I need you to tell me your name, OK?"
"Bite Me!" shouts the exasperated boy. The officer now looks angrily at him
"Now listen Mister, accident or none there's no need for that. Where's your manners?"
"Halfway down a cliff, picking up Dog Turds!"

There's two fish in a tank. One turns to the other and says
"How do you drive these things anyway?"

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One asks the other
"Does this taste funny to you?"

A guy walks into a bar.
"Ouch!" It was an iron bar.

Thank you Stuart that was… umm… yeah.

In years past we brought you the MOCpages interpretive dancers and the HALOkiddies boy band. For our dance number this year, please welcome the Astromech Rockettes!

Wow… does no one research these things before we go live? Moving on, our next act is… well, this sounds cool, Miss Leda Kat is going to perform a juggling act with a chainsaw! And… wait, am I reading this right?

A chainsaw and a kitten? We’re really going to do this? Ok then, Ladies and gentleman, Leda Kat Juggling chainsaws and a kitten!

Oh god. Oh no! Oh sweet lord have mercy! Someone get a wetvac and a whole case of industial trash bags… I’ve never seen a pussy torn up like that. The horror… the horror…

Next up is Heath Flor with his lovely wife Amber and their… Donkey Punch Theater? No, we’re not doing that. I said NO! We’re going back to the awards show. We’re going back and that’s final!

Thank GOD that’s over. The next MOCie is for a fan favorite category, best Sci-Fi MOC. The nominees are Sven Junga’s The Daedalus Landing, Kevin Walters for Klingon Bird of Prey, Legorevolution’s Somewhere out there in the vast nothingness of space..., 2X4 for his Dune Sandworm, Steef de Prouw’s Starwars EF76 Nebulon-B medical escort frigate 'Redemption” and Space Pirate for Fast Lane to Heaven.

And the winner for best Sci-Fi MOC is, The Daedalus Landing by Sven Junga!

(Speech written by Sven Junga)
Sven: "Wow... It already was a big honor for me being among the nominees but this is really great! While it's a mix of my laziness and limited English to say somthing appropriate that shows how blown away I am right now, I thank all who made it possible! Thanks!"

Next up is the award for best miscellaneous MOC. Those MOCs that don’t quite fit in any of the other categories but deserve mention. The nominees are Soccer Table by 2x4,
B-17 Flying Fortress by Orion Pax, Secret Wu Master Pukalan by Mark Kelso, Chris Burnette’s “Lego six string electric guitar and five string bass guitar”,
Heath Flor for "So Long, & Thanks For All The Fish" and Jason Corlett's Rock'em Sock'em Robots.

And the MOCie for best miscellaneous MOC goes to the B-17 Flying Fortress by Orion Pax!

Orion Pax couldn’t be here tonight because he doesn’t have a SigFig and Chris was too lazy to make one up. Congratulations Orion Pax!

The final award for a MOC this year is the coveted MOC Of The Year award. There was some pretty fierce competition this year and everyone on this list put in amazing amounts of work on their build. The nominees are Jumpei Mitsui's Battleship YAMATO 1/40, Sven Junga’s The Daedalus Landing, Kevin Walther's "Wrath of God", Kevin Walter's Bird of Prey, Paul Yperman's Star Wars Droid Control Ship and Minifig English Mansion by Anthony De Wynter.

And the MOC of the year for 2010 is the Battleship YAMATO 1/40 by Jumpei Mitsui!
Jumpei was unable to be here tonight because his ship sank and they made him go down with it. Poor guy was kicking and screaming the whole way… Congratulations Jumpei!

Until now, we’ve been honoring the builds that make MOCpages great, now it’s time to honor the builders themselves. The best newbie award goes to the person who has only recently joined our little madhouse, but has made a great impact with their skills both in building and personality. The nominees for best newbie are Hans Dendauw, Leda Kat, 2x4, 000 000, and Heath 'kik36' Flor.

The best Newbie MOCie for 2010 goes to Leda Kat!

(Speech written by Leda Kat)

Leda Kat: I'd like to thank my lovely little pussy - cat Toby, for just being so gosh darn cute. I'd also like to thank my chainsaw for being so big... and to Frosty the Snowman for offering up his life in order to give birth to Leda-Face. Thanks to Rick Dees for Disco Duck and Frank Oz for casting Steve Martin as the Dentist. Thank you to my chainsaw for being so firm and to Princess Leia for killing Jabba the Hutt. Thank you Mister Bones for up-chucking my name all over the pages and making a shy, humble and quiet little girl one of your gang without any kind of evil "Carrie- pig's blood" intention and for taking Leda-Face to Disneyland. Thank you chainsaw for your ribbed edges. I must also say a huge thank you to Chris Phipson. I must, it was part of the bribe. And most importantly, thank you MOCpages members for accepting a chainsaw weilding homicidal maniac from down under into your society.

In years past, we only had one award for MOCer of the year. This year, we decided to break down the category into three groups. Best YFOL up to age 12, TFOL age 12 to 17 and AFOL 18 to Dennis Price. We’ll start young and work our way up. The nominees for YFOL of the year are K L A Y, Ryan Durant, Noah Lare, Joshua Christenson, VYB Builder and Aiden Faulconer.

And the YFOL of the year is Joshua Christenson!

Joshua: “That’s right people, learn the name! It’s Christenson! Not Christianson, Not Chistanson, its Christenson. Punks!”

Moving on, next is TFOL of the year. The nominees are Flare, JD Luse, Louis K., Ian McDonald, Dylan B. And Sven Junga.

And the TFOL of the year is Sven Junga!

Sven: “And here I was thinking that I wasn’t even going to win ONE award and now I’ve got TWO! Thank you everyone!”

Our last category is for AFOL of the year. The nominees are 2x4, Moodswim, Chris Phipson, Mark Kelso, Mr. Bones and Jason Corlett.

And the AFOL of the year, who won this award by only one vote is Chris Phipson!

Chris: Lee’s not kidding guys. Up until the final vote was cast I thought this award was going to go to one of the other builders. It was REALLY that close down to THE last vote. Thank you so much everyone who voted for me and for all the other votes that made this awards show possible! I could go on and on, but I’ll just end with, Thank you MOCpages!

Well ladies and gentleman, that’s our show. We hope you had a great time and we can’t wait to see you all again next year for the annual MOCie awards! Thank you and good night!

Fourth Wall Commentary: For those that missed the entire lead up to this, here’s a link to the 2010 MOCie awards group. Here you can find all the details and background info on what went in to making this year’s awards show. I’d like to take a second here to personally thank the “MOCie Award Staff” who really helped in pulling this thing together and making it all happen. Mark Kelso, Moodswim, Emperor Ludgonious, Dylan B. and Wes Pitter. Thank you so much guys, I couldn’t have done this without you!

Now what all the winners have been waiting to read… the prizes! Before you read on I need you to remember that last year, it took about 3 months to get the prizes from the Lego Company. It may take a while to get them to you, but I promise, you’ll get em. Winners age 18 and over, email me at mocieawards@gmail.com with your address and I’ll ship the prize to you there once I get them. For winners UNDER 18 years old! You MUST first get your parent’s permission to receive a prize in the mail. I am NOT going to send a prize to your home address. For any winner UNDER 18, I will mail the prize to your parent at their work. If this can’t be done, email me and we can work out something else.

Thank you all again for playing along and making this year’s MOCie awards the best year yet!

Till next time true believers
~Chris.

Quoting Gus Indo Just wondering, where do you get the majority of your votes? AFOLs, TFOLs, or do you get many votes in? Just curious really....
Each year, we create a group for the awards. EVERYONE is invited to participate in each stage of the show, from nominations all the way through voting. Voting is done by email so it's all a surprise until the show is posted. There's still a link on my homepage to this year's group. Check it out so you can see how it all goes down for next year!

Because I'm a MOCpages Moderator. There are a few other bars that people can have such as Professional, Ambassador or Administrator. Basically, it means that with Sean's blessing, Mark Kelso and I take care of the day to day running of MOCpages. Hope that brief example makes sense.

Congratulations to all the winners, and especially to you Chris, your continuing contributions to our little corner of the Lego community are greatly appreciated. I will point out to everybody that I didn't know what I was auditioning for, and was a little concerned when Chris asked if I did dancing too, and how comfortable was I with taking my shirt off..... However several therapy sessions have helped me repress those memories and I can now safely say i'm available at a very reasonable rate for all your entertainment events. And next year I want to be sharing the stage again, but for funniest MOC. I'll do the halftime show again too, i've got a family to support. Good job sir.

No matter how far you scrape the bottom of the barrel, Chris, you bring so much to MOCpages and expressing my gratitude for it will be difficult, so I won't even try. In the part with the chainsaw/kitten juggling, I somehow read 'petvac' instead of 'wetvac', which made me laugh even more :D Congrats to all winners!

Yay! I can't believe I did not get mentioned at all! >.> But yeah, I need to step it up a notch. Better yet, heed advice from the pros. Like now. I am building a futuristic car, and I need advice for the overall shape. It keeps comming out boxy. Like maybe where to put pieces would be nice. And where I could give detail. Please? That would br REALLY helpfull. Cause I have no clue at the moment.

An excellent presentation!! Many thanks to all who contributed, but especially to Chris, for all the hard work he puts into this for ALL of us! Having someone like Chris in our community touches us all (don't go there)...and makes us ALL winners! Of course, as soon as he finishes distributing prizes, Johnny and I are going to make him do some HONEST work for a change (LOL)! Love ya, Brother-(No actual kittens were harmed in the posting of this masterpiece)

Congrats to everyone who won! The half time show was the best! And for the record I've only donkey punched Amber twice. We thought it was so funny that we couldn't get the donkey to stop laughing.

*applauds* Bravo, bravo. A fantastic presentation and show, Chris. The humor is endless and the actual winners as well as the nominees all had some fantastic creations and personalities to contribute. I'm glad you finally got Stu doing something useful and I really enjoyed that amongst the other halftime shows. Great show and thank you to all who contributed. Congrats to this years winners!!! -Dylan
