Black Sun Empire's smaller and less luxurious side of passenger liners.
About this creation
Hi,
One of my latest BSE models; the AX-series 'passenger bus', not to be confused with the Citroën AX (the Black Sun Empire officials don't tend to ride in those).
Originally intended to be a slightly larger, BSE remake of one of my little brother's models (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/97613) , though still retaining some resemblance in form and around the side windows; it ended up looking more like a little brother of my BY series cargo freighter (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/176905). My brother and I both agreed on this and one of his new BSE ships did the job of remaking his old model much better (http://mocpages.com/moc.php/210791)
So... here we have the BY series' little brother, the AX series. A for passengers, B for freight; X, Y and Z denominate the size of the ship, from small to large. There can of course be different variations of ship models with the same naming convention.
So that makes this a small passenger liner. The main form, and colour, is very resemblant to the larger BY series; though the reduced size lets it get away with half as many engines; a the need for only one pilot (which in this case is a droid, to improve performance); and the sides are fitted with many viewports. The AX series also comes equipped with a minimum of laser cannons to defend itself; though if a mission is considered at possible risk a fighter escort will be flying alongside.
The inside is fairly simple; this being the bottom of the range in passenger liners - rows of tables and chairs line each side of the ship, with one viewport and two overhead lights for each. Luggage space is scarce and usually just piled around unoccupied seats.
Yes, you could say I was lazy and didn't build something really nice but hey, you gotta have the bottom of the line stuff to compare the nice stuff too (when I get around to making it lol) I know it looks simple, it's supposed to. Anyway... enough boring ships for now - check out my next one :)
Now, the BY and AX series might be white and more about practicality than coolness, but if you're into what I guess could best be describes as 'dark sci-fi' , check out the Black Sun Empire group - http://mocpages.com/group.php/5853 - and if you want to make models for the BSE feel free to join :)

Google is your friend :)
Can't remember what I searched for though... looks like Coruscant.
And then I used Gimp to edit in the lego model on top of it.

J'adore !

Nice ship ! I like the fact that it is intended to be practical and not necessarily elegant: a real bus has rarely a very smooth shape (some of my MOCs are also like that)... I also like the panoramic windows of the pilot: it's a pity it's only a droid, not able to enjoy the great view one must have from there ! |
