Micro-scale Tripod from the 2005 version of War of the Worlds
About this creation
That's right, a micro-scale tripod based on the 2005 film War of the Worlds(of course), one of my favorite movies of all time, seeing as how it's directed by Steven Spielburg, starring Tom Cruise, and has music by John Williams. I mean, whoa, that's pretty good...
This was made with the assistance of my older brother, Justin Stebbins. But most of you know him as Saber-Scorpion...

As you can see, the tripod has two heat-rays attatched in an odd way to its body. Yeah, in the movie the heat-rays were more to the sides of the tripod than in the middle, but I found it difficult to fix it like that, so...

Here's a nice scene: My brother's microfig-scale Halo Warthog is currently serving as the wrecked hummer in the scene from WotW. Like the red weed and the destroyed house? Oh, and yes, the background is not digitally added in. I really snapped a screenie of it from the movie and printed it, then put it as the background. That's why it has all those crappy lines in it, y'know. Now all you need to do is imagine Tom Cruise running around down there...

Here it is without the background and with the heat-rays attatched. Like the dead cow? Moving along...

The tripod from a head-on view. The legs are, of course, fully-poseable, being made out of "clicky joints", as I usually call them. The tripod also uses four "torches" in its creation. The tripods are really supposed to have only three "toes", but the torches were good enough and I didn't really want to chop them all up.

Here's the scene again, except with the heat-rays out and the dead cow now visible. I wanted to make the front curve forward more over the other two lights like it's supposed to, but it's good enough.

This is just a picture I snapped from the movie with the brightness cranked up a bit so people who own "SB Mode" monitors like mine can see it without having to turn it on. I'm proving to you that they really do have three lights(in case you didn't really pay any attention to that), and that they're a bit farther behind than the one in the middle. Heh.

Nice work! I've never seen the movie, I have only red the book by H.G. Wells. Although the book takes place in the very early 1800's and the movie is modern, I have a good idea of what the tripod should look like. The mini scale is good idea, so everything can be shown (including the red weed). The legs are great, and I like the the dead cow. Post more creations! |

This is an excellent mech, and a great vignette. I especially like the little things like the dead cow, it adds to the great detail. I wouldn't expect anything less from Justin's sister. |

Bĉmon, here. An excellent miniature of the tripod. I would suggest better legs, but I myself can't think of anything better. Anyhow, great job. But really, why'd you have to kill the cow?

Wow Wolfy, nine reviews in, what, two days? Anyway, for such a small, scale it resembles it fairly acurately. I can't really find much to nit-pick at, so, 5/5. |

LoL I never knew you had a Brickshelf folder or atleast a MOCpage! Nice Tripod! However I would have Build him in pure blacknes with maybe bits of dark grey... Still it's an OK MOC.

I think Saber-Scorpion has some competition MINI-wise... I like it. It looks like a vignette. The tripod is to scale. I think the cow should have a black 1x1 plate in the middle, though. |

You have captured the look of the Tripod nicely, and it looks as though you put a lot of work into it. My only beef would be the legs. There's something about them that just doesn't seem right. Other than that, good job! And don't forget to check out my own Tripod!
