I wondered if there might be any interesting bits inside the Midak Skyblaster, so I took it apart.
About this creation
1. Aquire a Midak.
2. Insert your pocketknife as shown and wriggle it around some so that you chisle down the little silver tab. Do this to all four silver tabs. Don't chisle them down too much or else you won't be able to put your Midak back together.
3. Wriggle the large silver canister a bit and pull gently. Carefull, some little pieces might come flying out. If it won't come apart chisle the silver tabs down some more.
For all this work you get both satisfied curiousity and some nifty little bits. The first is the red dome/cylinder thing that the Midak spheres sit on. No standard conections, probably won't be much use in MOCing unless you use rubber bands.
Second is the silver cylinder that houses the Midak spheres. One standard + connection piont, still probably somewhat hard to use in MOCing. Perhaps it could be used as a bucket.
Third you get the spring. Be gentle with it or it might bend and become unusable in your Midak. It might have some uses, provided you can figure out how to connect it to your creation so it doesn't wriggle around.
Lastly is the black front section. It includes the silver trigger thingie and has three standard + connection points. It looks at least somewhat useful for MOCing. It's interesting to note that you can shoot be Midak/Zamar spheres using this alone, the spring apparatus is only used the reload and keep the ammo from falling out.
Did you know that you can shoot a 2x2 cydrilical brick from the Midak? It works suprisingly well!
That's it, your guide to taking apart the Midak. If you use the pieces in MOCing I'd appreciate some credit, but it's not required. I hope this will be useful to you!
I don't think it's crazy to take it apart, but it does seem a bit risky, so I'd keep a spare just in case. Oh, and would you mind checking out this creation please?http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/223739
