About this creation
This is my entry for the R-Wing contest at www.fbtb.net . It's my own design for a fighter in the Star Wars universe.

The product of a rare collaboration between the Koensayr and Slayn & Korpil corporations, the R-Wing fighter shows influences from both Y-Wing and B-Wing starfighters. The body of the craft is similar to the B-Wing (albeit smaller), with one difference being the positioning of the extending wings. These have been swept forward, making it easier for the pilot to aim the attached ion cannons. The cockpit, which retains the unique rotation feature of the B-Wing cockpit, closely resembles the more heavily-armored Y-Wing, including the forward-mounted laser cannons. Improvements in Koensayr's hyperdrive technology allow for a single, collapsible engine mounted directly behind the cockpit. The R-Wing docks with the wings folded, the hyperdrive engine retracted, and the cockpit rotated parallel to the body. In this configuration, it looks very much like the letter R.

The body of the craft is similar to the B-Wing but shorter and thicker.

The cockpit section looks a lot like the Y-wing.

   The wings hold Ion cannons.

The ion cannons can fold behind the wings.

   The wings can be closed.

The R-Wing looks like this when it docks. The wings are closed, the hyperdrive engine behind the cockpit has been collapsed, and the cockput is parallel to the body.

During flight, the cockpit can turn 360 degrees with respect to the body.

More small ion cannons can be found under the cockpit.

The hyperdrive engine is surrounded by smaller engines.

The wings fold snugly where they meet with the body.

The hyperdrive engine slides in and disappears.

Here's the R-Wing pilot perched on the docked ship.

A better look at the SNOT (studs not on top) construction.

Here's the view when the hyperdrive engine is extended again.

The inside of the body. If I ever modify the ship, I might add storage compartments within the solid mass.

Nice, but why so many ion cannons?

One of my favourites so far, but then I always liked the Y-Wing and crossing it with a B-Wing is inspired. I really like the way the wings fold out into attack position, great functionality, and the landing configuration works really well as an 'R'. Good build.

Looks good. I like the color scheme, and how it looks like a B-wing and y-wing fusion. The main wings's detailing is especially nice. Also, I like the sliding hyperdrive, and the engines, and the SNOT construction. I guess I just like it.

That's great. The white and yellow look surprisingly good together, and I love the texturing along the main wing.
