After as less productive year I started to build this model October last year. After a one month holiday in November I picked it up again late December. However I built this Volvo NL12 before I was quite motivated to have it finished very soon.
Like all my MOCs this truck is on scale 1:13 which means it has a total length of 127 cm. It's actually not the same of the one I built in 1997. I think nearly 10% of this model is the same so the biggest part is built from scratch; new parts which didn't exist in 1997 and more building experience.
Lots of SNOT techniques are put in the tractor to give it the right look. I build these kind of trucks with the help of chassis drawings and lots of pictures of the real thing. It's a pitty this Volvo doesn't exist anymore after a terrible crash.
The trailer has a real working conveyor belt inside from the front to the back of the trailer (approx. 600 chain links). The conveyor is driven by two 9V RC motors which creates massive torque! The body can bear 18 kg of beans and it takes about 10 minutes to unload it.
I can tell the complete story of this model here but I already did that with uploading my own website: www.dennisbosman.nl
Here you can find the whole description as well as more pictures.
I don t understand the part ;this volvo does nt exist after a terrible crash, this one? or something else, I mean you could rebuild any breaking can you? as for these pics, marvelous truck! the real one is beautiful, and yours make it justice, it s so close, I was fooled by the small pic too! lol! you re very talented!
Hey Dennis, i didn't know you were on mocpages too. Nice to see the Dutch Legotruckers in force here :-) I have complimented this one already on the Lowlug pages. I hope that some future meeting we can both show our big scale trucks together at display.
Your work is fantastic! I mean all of those trucks and machineries you've showed at your homepage. Magnificent work! You mentioned, that you're looking for other obseesed by trucks in scale 1:13. Well - I'm one of them and in fact, I have Renault Magnum here in MOCpages. I would like to build more trucks like it, but there's one big problema - I started to collect LEGOs just a few years ago and my collection is still too small to build something more serious, since the LEGOs aren't too cheep. So I'm caching my skills up with those cars I've lately built and while that slowly growing my collection. Ehhh... If only I could earn the money for living by creating LEGO models, that would be my dream come true...
