Red Prince's Cruiser
A Classic Space star cruiser designed for long space travels.
About this creation
(English comments below)

This starship is my most complex and biggest MOC so far. I started 6 months ago with a first design on LDD and refined it (very !) slowly.

A few front views: the front weapons are detailed below. The canopy is mostly recycled from the Heavy Transport spaceship I dismantled a long time ago.

Side views where one can see the thrusters and the main radar system on the top. The feet are not retractable...

Top views with and without the roof and canopy. One can see some details of the interior: the bridge, the ``living room'' and the corridor. The roof of the back part cannot be removed.

Close views of the pilot, canopy removed. One can see the bridge in the back. This starship is very easy to pilot using the ``joystick'' (for directions). The computer control under the left hand of the pilot is the control of the thrusters. The computer screen on the pilot's right allows to access all information about the ship's systems. Major information is displayed on the pilot's visor, using a Head Up Display.

Close views of the bridge. The pilot can be seen downstairs. The Red Prince seats almost in the center of the bridge and gives instructions to the pilot and the two flight engineers, who can be seen on both sides. They mostly control the weapons as well as the doors.

Close views of the ``living'' room. There are two ``beds'' (quite small but this is the army !) and a food dispenser. Crew members hardly call this food, but at least after you drink/eat it, you are no longer hungry... One can see one soldier getting his daily dose of food.

Back views: one can see the three thrusters, the tail and the fins. This starship can travel at 0.99c (99% of the speed of light), which is rather nice but, unfortunately, involves some troubles with space-time and special relativity. At the end of your journey, your wife has been buried and your kids are grand-parents... Therefore, all crew members are single. One can also see the back door, opening on the cargo bay. Usually, it carries only a small hover vehicle (see below for more details), to explore a bit the area after landing.

The cargo bay is separated from the rest of the ship by an airtight sliding door, which allows opening the bay in space without depressurization of the living areas. One can see one flight engineer in the bridge at the end of the corridor.

Close views of the hover vehicle which was in the cargo bay. It has one laser cannon in case of trouble.

Of course, the Red Prince does not jump out of the cargo bay ! The corridor of this ship is in fact an access ramp. The left picture is taken from the bridge.

The proud crew being reviewed by the Red Prince. From left to right: pilot, 2 flight engineers, 2 troopers.

Under view where one can see some details of the propulsion system (I won't detail it here, it is a bit too technical... Let's just say it involves nuclear fusion). It is so efficient that you can travel billions of kilometers, with a single drop of any kind of material.

Details of the defense system: a small radar and a small turret with two ion beam cannons. Any aggressive spacecraft approaching is blown out immediately...

Details of the attack system: two standard laser cannons and four nuclear missiles. This ship is actually not an attack ship but, one never knows !

Details of the back fins. This is actually the first time I use the SNOT technique, which I learned on MOCpages !

That's all folks ! I hope you liked it. If so, please rate and comment. Thanks for visiting anyway !

Quoting Executive Director Zac bien fait d'un navire brillantes! c'est vraiment comme un vaisseau spatial classique! sa volonté clairement été bien planifiée! mais le train d'atterrissage bleu pilotis ou tout simplement pour veiwng purposes--ermm as i have said before my French is rubbish! i hope this is correct.i don't think the landing gear part is though so i will repeat it in English, are the blue things landing gear or just for viewing purposes? if they are landing gear should't they be fold up?
Your french is good enough for me to understand what you mean ! It's true the landing gears are not the best part of this ship and they should fold up, in particular for atmospheric reentry...

Quoting Michael Kringe I like the thrusters! How did you build them?
Thanks for your comment ! The thrusters are quite simple: five 1x1 trans-orange round plates and one white 4x4x2 rocket step for each thruster.

Quoting Matt Hanson I'm with Parington; At first I thought it was just a solid ship, but upon closer inspection I found alot of detail and functionality! The ramp is a nice touch - not too many ships include a ramp. Overall, nicely done!
I like functionality and, without a ramp, it's a bit difficult to get up in a ship ! Thanks for your comment.

Quoting Jp ...

Quoting J0N0TR0N1C SYSTEMS Great details and interior. Your accessory vehicle is very sweet! The overall shape is a bit blocky for my taste, but overall this is a well conceived and constructed MOC!
I know it's a bit blocky compared to most of the MOC's we can see around, but I think blocky and visible studs are really the essence of classic LEGOs... Thanks a lot for your comment ! I'm glad you like it...

Quoting Parrington Levens This is classic space for the purist! I love it. At first glance you think maybe it's awkward, butr then when you really look you see the great details that have gone into this, and the great consideration of honoring cs design styles. The interior is beautiful, so ecovative of all those cool int shots we used to see on the sides of the old cs boxes. Big and beautiful I'd say, great build DAvid...
Thanks a lot Parrington ! I must say I didn't intend to really stick to the CS "design rules", but it seems this is the only thing I'm able to do ! I'm glad you liked the interior shots, they took me quite a lot of time...
