Board up the windows and prepare the quick escape routes! The first LEGO creation based on my upcoming novel, G4M3: Shattered Reality.
About this creation
This is the first LEGO creation I've made based on my upcoming novel, G4M3: Shattered Reality. I've been writing the book since... well, probably 2003, and now it's finally on its way to being printed. You can see the website here:

This vignette is based on Chapter 2: "Let the G4M3s Begin"

G4M3, by the way, is pronounced "game." It is a virtual reality simulation that exists in Utopia, the "perfect" city of the future. In G4M3, the citizens of Utopia can experience the opposite of their current lives. Instead of being in a world of peace and perfect law and order, they will end up in a world of constant war, destruction, and chaos.

Kyle Roswell, grandson of the creator of G4M3, is the protagonist of the novel. In the second chapter, "Let the G4M3s Begin," Kyle takes is first steps into this dark and dreary world.

One of the first characters that Kyle meets is a man with no face and no name. He wears dented dark red armor and a poncho, and the emblem of a scorpion decorates his shoulders and chestplate. This, of course, is my signature character, Saber-Scorpion. Yes, he does make a cameo appearance in the book. However, he is not named, and all he does is give Kyle some good advice and walk away. After that, we never see him again.

This is the first vignette I've ever made (besides one I made for a contest but didn't really try too hard on). I've never been a big fan of making buildings, but I knew that would be the main thing I'd have to make in order to build G4M3 LEGO's. But I wanted to do scenes from the book, so I settled upon vignettes. Not all of the customs will be vignettes, but most of them probably will be.

It's fun trying to pack a lot of detail into a small space. Here we can see the interior of the building, featuring flip-up armor plating on the lower window and a makeshift gun slit on the upper window. On the second floor, a member of the Bloodletter Blades gang customizes his gun, while on the third floor an old man (a rarity in G4M3) drinks some water (an equal rarity in G4M3). On some level, this NPC knows that every sip may be his last.

The front of the building. Not much to say here. The chain represents a quick escape route, most likely, devised by the occupant of the second floor. The spider there is probably so big because he's a mutated result of nuclear fallout. Just guessing.

Kyle Roswell, in his junky first suit of armor, looking naive as he begins his first G4M3 session. He will learn...

Red Skorpion (probably what I would have called him if I had said his name in the novel) is no stranger to the world of G4M3. He acts as a "tutorial character" in the world of G4M3, giving the Player some tips on what to do first. Kyle should listen to his advice... but of course he doesn't.

Jedi wear cloaks. Superheroes wear capes. Gangsters wear trench coats. But all kick-ass bounty hunters who have no name wear a poncho! (as proven by Clint Eastwood in the Man With No Name trilogy)

I really like this vig! You did nicely on the detailing, not overly busy but quite a good amount! The "Red Scorpion" minifig is also really cool, is his poncho(I agree with you about the poncho thing!) custom made by you, or did you get it online? Keep up the GREAT work, Mate! |

Not a bad vignette. The building and its interior are a bit dull, or at least not as good as your other vig, but that "Skorpion" figure is awesome! |

Good one, I like the minifigs, but i think you should have used one or two studs more for the building, and also SNOTted floors or a bunch of tiles to smoothen the surfaces up a bit. Still, I'm glad for you seeing how your project is gradually getting complete. |

WOW! you were right about the detail! great job! This MOC is based on the novel you wrote right? well i read the synopsis and i cant help but feel that your onto something that may hit theaters in a few decades! video games are a huge part of western civilization these days and some peoples lives (like yours im guessing) have much to do with them. you book must realy come from the heart... or im imagining things. so is your story really based on personal thoughts and feelings? a "what if video games became a reality" story. sounds like a good read. I admire your creativity in writing, i like to write too. |

My advice is always "Shoot the advisor character. Who's he to tell you what to do?" |
