Explosion in No-Mans Land
Entry for 18th Deep Space Fleet's "Heroes among us" contest.
About this creation
Captain Daniels commanded 153 men during the battle of Tarsix, a critical resource word during a major C.O.P. offensive. His final battle took place on the outskirts of a refinery. The battle raged for 19 days, both side digging in. This resulted in a return to trench warfare, and the dreaded no-mans land. Captain Daniels was ordered to hold out until his position could be reinforced. During the final hours, Daniels and a few men were venturing out into no-mans land to retrieve some wounded comrades. A nearby explosion ended up crippling Daniels, but he and the other wounded were retrieved successfully.

Daniels now teaches battle tactics at the Officer Academy.
