I had these pics on my disk and thought I'd share them with you all. As you can see, I'm working on my TRON layout for BrickWorld 2010! Not a lot here, just a couple of WIP shots (really the only things worth looking at are the recognizer and the backdrop). Enjoy! (Links provide images of the originals for those of you that are WAY too young to remember TRON)
First up is version two of the Recognizer. If you missed version one, don't worry, you didn't miss much. I like this version a lot better even though the colors aren't "accurate." To me it looks better in real life than the accurate colors of version one.
And then... the tank. GOD this thing is giving me more headaches than having to decipher clonespeak. This was the second version and it's already torn down and being reparted out for version three. The only thing I like about this is the barrel on the turret, that's staying, the rest is going to be completely different. But it's always good to show your failures as well so you can get the feedback you need to make the next version better. You know, looking at this again... I liked the first version even better than this. Perhaps a combination of the two for the final version...
Stage one of Sark's Carrier. I've actually done a lot of work on this since this pic was taken. It now has the overall shape of the original (click on the link there to see). I also made some modifications to what's here already. I should be done with this by next week sometime and hopefully then I can get back to that (grumblegrumble) tank.
Fourth Wall Commentary: So these pics are about 10 days old and I've gotten a lot of progress done on the entire project since then. The one thing that's REALLY giving me hassles are the light cycles. I've tried a few versions of those and just... cannot... get... them. ARGH! I blame my lack of yellow parts for that (being as the light cycle is supposed to be yellow (or blue or red or orange depending on your personal preference). perhaps I'll see if someone want's to add their own light cycles to the layout... ? Any takers? HAHAHA
I'll have another update in a couple of weeks. HOPEFULLY I'll be done with it and can give a "real" post for you all. Till next time true believers!
This creation is awesome! I love the grid background. By the way, I've created a group just for Australians and New Zealanders. Do you think this would be alright? I don't want anyone to be offended at not being able to join on the basis of their nationality. Search 'The Australian and New Zealand Builders Group'. I asked you because you are one of the admins and I wasn't sure. Thanks!

Now that just takes me right back...
I've actually got it done now... need to take pics of course. Gotta send another shout out to 2x4 for the light cycle design. I'll get pics taken within the week here. Thanks everyone and I hope to see you there! ~ Chris.
Wow, it seems like I've missed quite a lot in my absence. This is GREAT! Definitely brings back some memories of the original; can't wait to see the final product.
I like it

It's taken me about five minutes just to get to the "comment" screen here so I guess I'd better make this good. Looks like you've got something spectacular up your sleeve for Brick World and I can't wait to see it in person. I have to go now, can't spend too much time on the net ya know. *ugh
I try to excercise good judgement, so I don't think I'll cause any problems (just look at what certain AFOLs get away with). I mostly just need some sort of confirmation so that my parents won't worry that I'll offend anyone. Anyways, it should be up soon, so you can let me know then if there's any problem. Thanks again, your Modship!

That's just one scene in an extremely long episode that parodies Kelso's ambassadorial campaign. ;) But I just needed a thumbs-up from a mod before I posted to make sure. Thanks.
Well, don't consider this one pic that I commented on as a green light for everything. I haven't seen the entire post and therefore can't comment on what's to come. But yeah, if that one pic is the worst thing you've got, then it's a pretty safe bet that you'll be fine.
Hey, Chris, I'm almost finished with a Kelso Smack-Moc, but now that it's almost complete, I feel that it's a bit much. Do you think you could look at it and tell me what you think? If so, I'll give you a link to the preview. (I guess I just want to be 100% safe posting it.)
Wow, this is looking really fantastic. I especially love the black/blue vector graphic surround, really makes you feel like you are inside the game and that red recogniser stands out against it brilliantly. Looking forward to more updates.
Wow that looks great. I also think that this version is much better, the tank is also fantastic. You can have my Light Cycle if you want. I have uploaded an instruction for it. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/198683
Excellent job! Can't wait to see this in person. I can see your frustrations with the tank. As it stands though, the tank is really excellent, and if it was a stand alone it would be really trick. But yeah, when it comes to duplicating an existing version, it becomes a pain! LMAO
Very nice. I was told by a friend to get ahold of these and watch them. I would be glad to rise to your challenge of these "light cycles" but I unfortunately don't know what they are as I have not yet been able to get ahold of these movies. Once I do I'll gladly try and make one.
EDIT: I have just discovered what this looks like. My EGO is now forcing me to build one. I'll keep you posted.
This is really coming along, Chris. It looks very "video-game" like, which is always good when trying to imitate the movie. Everything looks nice, except from the "R" in "TRON." I might suggest connecting the two parts of the letter. Nonetheless, this is pretty dang cool. -Dylan
Oh man, I'm in love! Looing very, very nice sir, I really like that second version of the tank but if you think you can improve then go for it! The background really ties everything together. CANNOT wait to see this finished :)
I am not one with tanks either, I just cannot figure out how to build them. I get all set up, thinking this is going to be easy, and then I waste three whole hours of my life trying to build something that is just out of my grasp. Then I give up and do something else. Great job though! ~Waff
Nice one so far! I love that logo and background. I think the Recognizer could use some black highlights like your last one. Maybe you should use trans pieces and use LED lights in these to give it that "Tron" look. Now THAT would be sweet. Maybe you can get 2x4 to donate his light cycles:)
