Dune Hound
For the 2010 mech contest, in the category of Biosystem. I decided that since i have something HUGE planed for gigantors galore, i wouldn't go too big with this one. I don't want to completely obliterate my fellow contestants :) Anyway! This is the Dune Hound. It is an experimental assault drone. It was being tested at a classified desert military base when something went horribly wrong. The machine went rogue. There where no survivors. It was thought to be stolen until a military convoy was attacked by what they described as "an invisible army". Dune hounds are floating machines that are equipped with two mortar launchers, a mini-gun, and a flamethrower. They also have an onboard cloaking device that makes the entire machine invisible to the human eye and various other vision enhancing technologies, such as infrared. Each of it's "eyes" sees a different spectrum. The eyes see in standard vision, infrared, HD, 3D, tunnel vision, red eye, and beer goggles. Sorry, i couldn't resist XD
About this creation

Here is another angle of the Dune Hound on the base i used for my last entry. They almost seem like they were made for each other :)

Front.

Right side.

Back.

Left side.

Here you can see the flamethrower in action.

A close up of the side greebles.

And a close up of the back greebles.

The mini-gun.

The flamethrower.

The top. This is where the two mortar launchers are located.

And finally, An underbelly shot! It has four repulser units (two small and two large)That keep it afloat. I was planning on giving it legs, but as i built up the upper body, legs just didn't look good on it. So, i decided to scrap the legs.

No legs, no problem. Mech's do not HAVE to have legs. How could I give this a 4 and ruin your perfect score? Easy, I am evil...however, you get a 5 and a perfect 20, again.

Yo, dude- awesome mech. Really like the minigun, have done a similar piece on one of my larger Bionicle projects. Hope to post it in a week or two- I'm visiting friends in Atlanta, GA soon, and they have a digicamera I can use. Again, the Dune Hound rocks! -Huss Q.

Haha, I'm realizing I'm the first judge to touch this. I know why. It's obvious. So....no legs, eh? Hmmm...what to do, what to do. How shall we handle this, Mr. Corlett? It's good, very good, to be sure, but....those non-existent legs...hmmm. Is it even a Mech, then? You seem to think so, Chris seems to think so. I guess there were never any specific instructions that said it had to have legs. Still, tradition dictates that a mech does indeed have legs. Oh my, yes, this is quite the quandry. I suppose in the end, we better make it....GRYFFINDOR! Ah hem, sorry. 5 PTS! Forget legs, who needs 'em.

Quoting Mech Man I challenge you to a duel Jason, I am going to build a hardsuit in under under 300 pieces. I want to challenge you to a duel, We can both use only 300 pieces and it has to go under Apocolyptic Hardsuit. What do you say? I'm Awaiting your answer Mwahhaha XD
Haha I see what your doing here! Your trying to distract me from the contest aren't you ;) well, I've never said no to a challenge, so I accept! Bring it on!

Mind-blowing greebling on the sides and back, and *gasp* - a practical application for Bionicle parts! I must say, I definitely want one. Maybe not chasing me, though - I don't envy the guy on the ground.

Ahh beer goggles. What red blooded American male hasn't "claimed" beer goggles as the reason for his previous nights atrocity that he's presently knawing his own arm off at the elbow to get away from... Oh right, the mech, sorry. Sweet work Jason! I always had problems with Mech legs myself so I may just have to steal this concept at some point. Great work and good luck! ~ Chris.

Not bad, but doesn't a mech need legs? haha, if you get a perfect score on this, I'll be surprised. Not that it isn't good, in fact, it's GREAT, but I'd think legs are one of the most important components of a mech.
