I saw a model that had a basic concept for the canopy and I liked it so I made my own version. Last year I ran the 26.2 mile Martian Marathon right before spring break. Afterwords, my knees were completely shot and walking 3-4 steps gave me unbearable pain. So I spent spring break from morning to night building Legos which was the life. Good thing was that this was a RIDICULOUSLY fun model to build. My own version of the Delorean has perhaps too much detail. For such a small model, I spent the most time I ever have on any Lego.
About this creation
I used horse whips for the wires over the wheels.
Don't know if anyone else can tell, but I actually just shoved lego tires onto a grey circular piece for the back wheels. I didn't have any good sized rims that paired with good tires for the back wheels so I forced a small thick tire onto some type of grey circular piece I got from a Star Wars kit. For the front wheels I actually used a pair of tires I just found in my house. I don't know what they go to or if they are even Legos, but they work just fine for the front.

The back isn't 100% accurate to the movie. I couldn't fit all the hundreds of wires, buttons, and gizmos on the back so I just put wires and detail until it looked close enough and pretty awesome. I had to use tweezers to construct the back because of all the fine intricate detail used.
