Harkonnen Ornithopter
About this creation
This is a Harkonnen Ornithopter from the movie Dune. I am a big fan of David Lynch's version. The design of this film is fantastic. I'm also a big fan of the books.

Ha ha, I thought I was crazy for liking David Lynch's version (Sting in those winged underpants and all). Lovely job on the ornithopter, really like how you curved the wings on the side. And to anybody thinking of reading the books, ignore the cash-ins - I mean prequels, and dive straight into Dune.

Wär mir gar nicht aufgefallen, dass du den ausgelassen hast. War bestimmt stressig während dem Wettkampf. Kann aber auch nicht viel Neues dazu sagen, sieht noch immer super aus :)

Quoting Sean White Ok thanks, there are some series' that start in the middle/end and then add the beggining later (starwars, narnia, ect) so thats why I asked
His son wrote a prequel, but I'm not really a fan of it. So start Dune with Dune :).

Very cool ship! Gotta keep going with the Dune series. I've only gone through the 3 Legends of Dune (prequel trilogy) audio books. It takes forever to get copy from the library. XD

This is so perfect. I looked into making one of these a year or so ago, but could not figure out how to do it. You did it brilliantly. By the way, I love the base. I agree with your advice, too. Start reading with "Dune."

Quoting Sean White Ive never read/seen/heard of dune, but I like the ship and I might go up to the library and give them a look. 5/5 P.S any reccomendations on a book in the series to read?
Start with the first book, "Dune" by Frank Herbert. It is a coherent story, so it makes no sense to start with another book. In any case, thank you for your comment.

Wonderful design. Er, Sean, "Dune" is a good book to start from, or rent the DVD, or there's the TV series ....

Now I feel stupid for not knowing the books. Ill look them up, and Stefan, if you dont want to participate, I would be honored to have you as a judge :)

I always loved this aircraft's design - so much better than the crappy Atreides Thopters. Too bad there were almost no scenes featuring it. Reference pics are rare, too. Knowing all this, you did an outstanding job catching the menacing, unorthodox lines of this vehicle!

I am not sure yet. Thus, shortly after the MocAthalon I would like to take a short LEGO break. The ornithopter I've already built a month ago. But we will see. In any case, thank you for the invitation. And READ THE BOOKS!!!

Oh, baby! NICE!!! Love the choice of subjects, as I'm a huge fan of that version as well (the visuals, at least). Some great parts usage to achieve the look, too. If MOCpages could "favorite" creations like Flickr, this would be on the list!

Quoting Steef de Prouw Still cool. I am 100% certain I've seen this before, but it might not have been on here (Flickr?). I enjoy seeing it again and will award it a 5 stars accordingly :) And to Mech Man: are you serious? I have 17 books (I think) in the series and read the original 6 at least 4 times. Okay, I admit it. I'm a Frank Herbert junkie.
Exactly, you've seen it on Flickr before. I've uploaded it there a month ago. In any case, thank you. I love the books too. I have 13 different editions of the first book, including one signed by Frank Herbert. :)
