The Republic Venator Cruiser "The Dew Fate" is under siege above the republic colony of Dirtua, a small mining planet on the outskirts of the inner colonies.
After holding off the droid armada for nearly three hours, the doomed ship's hull finally gives way.
Amid the chaos and destruction on board the vessel, a single clone, a mere pilot, manages to escape in a life pod.
Without any steering mechanisms, the clone was forced to type in the only coordinates planet side that he knew...
The coordinates were near the back entrance into an underground republic stronghold.
After a few minutes spent shaking off the effects of a hard landing...
Our clone pilot, "Talon", makes his way down the exposed side of the cliff.
As he takes the last few steps, he notices a burst of static from the open comm network.
Before turning the corner to the entrance, he extends his antenna and listens in.
-Over Comm- "This is clone commander 091, I'm broadcasting on all open republic channels. Droids have entered the base, I'm not sure what's going on. My unit was assigned to protect the Dirtua ambassador Greu, but we've lost contact with him, there may be a bounty hunter amid the droids, we-
-Pew, Pew, Pew- "ARGH!"
"My name is Drist, I am a bounty hunter working for the Viceroy. I have Greu..."
"If any of you clone stragglers comes after me he will die...slowly."
As the transmission ends, the entrance opens...
Three droids hunker out of the hallway, investigating the noise that Talon caused with his unorthodox landing.
Realizing that he must strike before they see him, Talon takes out his sidearm pistol and goes to work.
The first droid gets taken entirely by surprise.
When the others turn to face him, he steps aside,
And then nails the second clanker.
He doges a volley by the third...
But with a final -pew- the droid crumbles to the dirt.
He steps towards the open doors...
And enters the base, determined to rescue the ambassador and find a way off of the invaded planet.
Will he survive? Will the Republic win the war in space? Is Drist really who he says he is?
Tune in next time to find out!
About the Build:
So I've been avoiding the Clone Wars category for a while now, but I'm kinda glad I did it. I love how the micro-venator and the escape pod turned out and I got to experiment with shades of green on the surface shots. Oh and in regard to the story: I decided to focus on a single clone because that was the only one that I hadn't marked up or lost. I'm not a big fan of the series :P That second clone was found about halfway through the build, so that's when the story developed. I tried to keep the build interesting while still keeping the horribly cliche' story archs that the show unfortunately uses. I'm not sure I accomplished that, but I'm content with the overall "show".
Whew, now I can have a day off while my team finishes up the first thirty, but I can't wait to attack some of the other categories.
